Thanks everyone for the replies. I really appreciate it. I'm pretty much sold on the conversion, just have to start ordering parts.

Do I need to cut out all the blocks of wood that are glassed into the hull?

Yes it is great that the cancer is gone. Ya know I was diagnosed the same time as Droby. He did holistic medicine, I went with the doctors at Kaiser.

The AQ UL-1 motor might be a little to weak for the 30" hull & the BJ really pumps out the torque needed - A Turnigy 180 would be a good reasonably priced speed control choice which would allow for more motor in the future. I've run the BJ motor [with a UL-1 SC] and Turnigy 4S 3600's in parallel in my 29" Titan rigged for LSO & ran 4 1/2 minute heats. Just a thought....
Tony I drove one of the Vegas Deuce's last weekend. It's got a super tiger motor which is still an .18 sized motor just like the original .18 AQ motor. The original motor looked just like an OS .18 cvr but but was built like one of the old os .15 motors with a longer rod and shorter stroke. It was still a real OS though. (nitro I know you don't care lol)

Anyways it was slow as a dog just like the original boat when it was stock maybe 27-30 mph I really doubt it was doing 30 though it really dragged the tail in the water too. The sponsons looked to be almost a 1/2 deeper than the original vegas.

Yes cut them out. You can put the new mount right about there once you have all your stuff and know the cg is pretty close to being where you want it.

I think I'm just going to get a Miss Elam hull and start with that. Converting the Miss Vegas is going to be alittle over my head.

Soon; I had to borrow the SC & rx for another boat.

After seeing the actual size of the Vegas hull...I'm now rethinking my power options.

Would a 2370KV 7XL motor from my E-revo be able to power a Vegas hull? It can handle a maximum of 4S.

Or would a 2150kv 540L 36x65 that can handle 6S be a better choice? Or I've got a BJ26 1500KV lying around that can be used?

The 7XL is not a good choice- too "hot" Good motor for a smaller SAW rigger

The 2150 540L is also a little small and I doubt that a 6S pack would fit.

The BJ 1500's a good motor, prop it right [x442/x445] and you'd have a decent setup- not too fast but fun nonetheless.

                          Best bet : Leopard 2074 & Seaking/Turnigy 180- Rock & Roll !

OK...so I'll scrub the 7XL and look to the BJ 1500KV. Should I be running this on 6S?

But what about the 2150KV 540L on 4S? Still too small?

Again, you may have trouble fitting 6S packs. A BJ 1500 on 4S should work OK.

The 540L on 4S should be alright- hard to know 'till you try.

My vote would be to build it like the UL-1!! and Detox's Whip! Can't beat that hatch seal.

As for the Vegas, I've been struggling. I tried a full cowl (see first photo), but it just didn't look right, even if the front bottom nose was removed (the tape is hiding it). The cowl is WAY too far back!!

So........I just made a new plug (don't laugh Randy, my skills are limited!!). This one will put the cowl forward and have a separate nose cone, like the UL-1. 2pc designs are cumbersome to get ready, but the flat seal is bullet proof. IMO, that was the best thing about the UL-1 (and the drop tub design). I know PC loves those humps though!
