two schools of thought on this. I never polish a prop. Just get it relatively smooth with 400 wet or dry and let 'er rip.

the blad i had to grind alot off one blade on on the back is dimply looking i thought the back of the prop did not have to be smooth like the front.?

Looks like i need to do alot of work on it now!
I ordered a new balancer from kentec racing the one for $19.99 since i needed a CF 40MM prop but Steve was out of them.... hope this one works out well.

Yes they say for heat racing and sport boating that is the way to go. for saw and high speed passes polished is the way to go. There is a lot out there to read and there is lots of different theories. Like I said do a search and start reading. you will learn a lot

I think it's CF = Carbon Filled Propellers the 40mm is the fisrt one on the list here on the prop page for Carbon Filled Propellers

Hi No i needed a 40mm CF prop and Steve was out of them so i ordered the prop and balencer from kintec
Also was reading alot about props and stuff and they say the leading edg of the prop should be the sharpest because that's what cuts into the water first?

Rick, what is confusing me is the prop materials and diameters. I think he is trying to balance an X440 not an X430. I have never used CF props....just semantics on my part.

Please explain further, this response makes no sense.....do you have an X430 X435?? or are you trying to balance a CF prop. Did you read the link I gave you

Hi i have a X430 but also have a X435 that seemed way out of balaence ...., what i am trying to explain is i ordered a new balancer from kintec racing because Steve was out of stock on the 40mm CF prop that i needed for another boat so i ordered both from kintec racing..

Is it true the leading edge on the prop should be the sharpest when sharpining the props?

Also, do a search for "balancing" on this forum. You will find lots of good info.

If you enjoy the challenge of fabricating stuff & are low on funds (as I do/am) - - build your own . . . .

Yes, you aren't done until you cut yourself. The trailing edge should be filed flat and square to the face.

Where did you get the shaft for your fabricated balancer or did you mill that yourself?
