    I fabricated the shaft myself.

I used 3/16” weld steel rod purchased from Lowe’s. I chucked the rod in a variable speed drill set at low RPM with a Velcro strap holding the trigger. I used a grinding stone in my Dremel Tool , at medium speed, to fashion the points (the rod & grinding stone were turning towards each other). Then I used 800 grit wet/dry sandpaper lubricated with light oil to polish them, with the drill set at maximum speed.

    A poor man’s lathe . . . .

It requires a very steady hand to do a satisfactory job. Keep the rod as short as possible, as it will be closer to being in balance itself.

I also made a 1/8” shaft from weld steel, but the rod was slightly oversize, & I had to reduce it’s diameter using 220 grit wet/dry sandpaper in order for it to pass through the smaller prop hubs.

The 1” round ceramic magnets are also available from Lowe’s. I used six per side , & epoxied them together. I polished the magnet faces using 320 grit wet/dry sandpaper placed on a 1/16” brass plate, again lubed with light oil.

    Happy Balancing !!!
