    Prop balancing HELP!!??

Hi guy's i am trying to sharpen and balance some new props I never balanced props before only RC tires. Anyhow maybe some of you can help me out here.

I have a Top Flite balancer and when the prop falls down on it showing the heavy side i then hold the prop and twist the metal rod like half way that the prop is on then the balance spot on the prop changes??
It's a x430 prop are small ones hard to balance? what prop balancer is best to use ? Steve sells alot of them anyone know what ones work best?

    THANKs
:p What go faster that's what I like to do!

Any of the first three you come to on this page: http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/products.php?cat=19

Will work fine. You'll like any of them better than the Top Flight you have.

I used the Top Flight for a couple of years, but am much happier now that I have one of these more accurate versions.

Not to degrade the grim racer balancer but it is nice not having to level the magnetic ones.

Is it possible you are adding oil to the top blade when you hold it? It does make a little difference. Drove me nuts trying to figure that out once.

I like the Dubro Tru-Spin for the initial balancing.

Tower Hobbies carries an expansive collection of RC cars, RC airplanes, RC boats, model trains, sot cars, and supplies for all hobbyists.

I then use a magnetic balancer for the fine tuning. There are several out there that are very good but I use this one at Kintec Racing the most.

The prop must be clean of metal dust from filing/sanding. If you get to the point where the oil from your fingers makes a difference you are done with the prop.

Thanks guy's on the 430 prop it must have been not to much out of balance but on the 435 it was out of balance like heck! i ground a lot off the rack of the blade I still don't get how you balence then i got it to stay with both fins straight across but it always stays in the same spot when spun anotherwords the side i ground stays facing me and straight across even with the other fin it never goes with the uncut fin tawards me...am i doing something wrong?

I do not know what balancer to get only gripe on the magnettic ones is who knows if the points on the rods you put the prop on are perfectly ground round and not off set this is why i am thinking non magnet would be better?

          ANy help will be great.

If it falls on the same side all the time, the underside is heavy.

I always use a market to put a dot on the heavy blade on the side opposite the drive dog (rear of the prop). You don't modify that side! You work on balancing on the front of the prop. That way the ink dot is always there. FIRST, sharpen both blades. Then lighten the heavy blade, checking frequently. When the prop will stop horizontal, it is balanced.

I have this prop balancer as well - it's great for the smaller props.

So if the prop keeps landing perfectly across from each blad in the same dirction lightend fin tawards me i then have to mark both blad bottoms and grind some off both?

Wish there was a prop balancing how to video!!
                      THANKS GUYS!

If both blades land horizontal with the same blade towards you then the hub is heavy on the bottom and you need to work on that.

A perfectly balanced prop will not land in the same position every time. Sometimes you have to work portions of opposing blades and or the hub. I try to keep the thickness of the blades close too.

It handles up to 3/16 shaft props. The biggest plus is it also does the 4mm threaded props which most balancers will not.
