I got to play with my uncles boats when I was growing up. The first boat that I owned was a Dehoog Dragon B hydro with a K&B 7.5, cool boat. We called it the "Ruptured Grape", all K&B purple. It ran 53mph on the stock K&B in 1985 on my own prop. I guess the writing was on the wall at that point.

I also remember desperately wanting a Prather Pirahna and a K&B 11cc to go with it.

My first boat was a scratch built plank of balsa with a sail on it....I think I was 6 years old....fast forward to circa 1980 a Dumas Dauntless that took 10 years to complete....First real FE boat was a Kyosho Twin Storm.

Scratch built pt-109 w/twin brushed motors. It took 8-"D" batteries and had no remote! Then the Kyosho Viper and I was hooked.

I know this is an old thread but I just found a pic of, and remembered the brand of my very first venture into rc boating. The Kyosho Heatwave! Look at the colors. Can you tell its from the 80's???

1st post here :) Been in the R/C hobby for a little bit, mostly burning gas these days. How bout this one- Hobby Lobby Ninja (at least I think that's what it was called). It was a grey, double wall pvc hull, with a 540 can motor, submerged drive, and mechanical wiper (porportinal, no less, F and R, LOL) speed control. Working on a Delta Force 22" hydro, Delta Force 25" mono, 32" cat, and hopefully converting a Zippkits 1/4 scale cracker to electric (since I found out at our last club meeting the Z-box is not a NAMBA legal hull). Man, we've come a long way...

My first one was an MRP Mrs. Bud. (I think the other MRP hydro they sold was Pringles?) Right around that time (1989 ?) I bought a Kyosho Jet Stream 800. Ahhh...mechanical speed controllers and fried resisters...He,he!! I ended up putting a second motor in the Jet Stream...I thought that was really cool...lol! Dumas Hotshot Sprint 3.5 ABS tunnel was my next one....too many more to list after that....

Oh yeah, I did evetually put a K&B 3.5 O/B on the back of the Jet Stream...that boat was fast!

Delta Force Cyber Storm as my first RC boat, if not to mention the plastic one I built 25+ years back in elementary school powered by 2x AA batteries.
