What's a cool use of a 3rd channel in an electric build?

I dont know much about cats but a pickle fork would benefit from slight downforce in the turns. You dont even have to have 3 channel mix to do that . Simply run a y harness between the canard servo/s and the rudder and because you dont want as much travel on your canards as your rudder simply use long servo horns and and a long control arm on your canards. Thats it.

You could light your cooling exit stream with an led and it will be that color until it hits the water the droplets formed will be the led color too.It works because water and air have a different index of refraction the water stream will act like a fiber optic cable until the stream hits the lake.

This is my take on the 3rd channel.

        http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...ad.php?t=10541

The M12 cat is still under construction.

I have another idea for the 3rd channel.
I just bought myself a GOPRO HD video camera.
I'm going to use the camera to get some action shots of my 2 cats running at over 100klm/h. The camera will be placed on the deck of the cat.
The idea is to use the 3rd channel to control the GOPRO's movement with a servo or 2 .
This will allow me to pan and tilt the view on the camera.

Here is a couple of pictures of the GOPRO camera with my mobile phone to show the size of the unit.

I think I need to do that. Cool idea! What would you all need to make that work? Besides the LED... Any colors that show up better in the day time? Any pics? Should still have the third channel open right? Just wire the LED to be on all the time....

A 3rd channel turnfin sounds cool but your mechanics have to be up to par for something like that. I f i had a cat Id have remotely controlled trim tabs the difference between rc 3rd channel and a microcontrolled 3rd channel is with the pic I can add or take away as many paramerters as I want within reason and that mcu would also take care of all kinds of auxillary functions. Bilge pump etc...The right mcu could even impliment telemetics via 2.4 gig. Do any of the more expensive rc radios have telemetics?

How about trim for an outboard...would be easy to add a servo to move the motor...but it would add weight.
                I let the dogs out...

The added weight would be minimal

No pics but do a net search on led lit faucets and fountains . Yes you could wire it to stay on all the time. I have to sketch you a pic. Thats the best I can do. Ill pm it you .Id imagine blue , red, green or maybe yellow.

Ok, cool. I think that would be really neat. That should go with the bright paint job I guess... Green boat, red LED probably. So it has some contrast? Maybe some exterier LEDs while I'm at it. You guys ever do that?

I was thinking my next boat might be a PT boat with a CO2 BB gun (taken apart and reworked to fit and loose unneeded weight) set up to fire with the third channel... Seagul sniper...

It can be simpler and lighter. Look at what the RC Combat guys do. Follow their safety precautions.

I can't see any reason why one would need a remote high amp switch for battery backup. If you are running your boats batteries dry while still out in the middle of the lake, you have other issues. Are you planning on launching a boat with dual batteries??? I have given some thought to the exact opposite, a remote high amp kill switch, for when this happens;----
Never the less, in answer to your question, YES!, Virginia they do.
