    Drifter L motor upgrade

Didn't know if any of you much more knowlegded boaters could help me find the perfect upgrade for a motor for my new drifter L I just bought off this site....

heres the thread to the boat I bought...

    http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...ad.php?t=13480

It currently has a nemesis 9xl... and since it has a nice alluminum motor mount I was hoping I could find a motor upgrade that would fit in the exisiting mount..

I know Ive said it in my other postings alot because I have a LEHNER 2250 12t hi amp sitting in its plastic sleeve brand new.... probably too much motor for this boat with its small flexshaft, and I'm sure it wont fit in this mount?

Also is this flexshaft big enough too take much more motor at all, or should I be replacing that too...?

I am wanting this boat to impress.... its a cat so I imagine it can handle alot more motor stability wise...

What is the best upgrade I could do motor wise to really make this zing.....

I have a HV speed control that I could put in the boat if I need to go that route...

Recomendations would be great... He is shipping boat out and I should have later this week....

Boy I am gonna need to hide the bank statements from the misses this month

I know nothing about Lehners. If it was my boat, Id go with a neu 15271y on 6s2p. With that kind of power, you'll want a .187 flex. What cells do you plan to run? That is one beautiful boat. Those hulls can really fly too. I think you'll want more than a 36 mm motor though, so you may just want to sell that mount.

Am I gonna need to change the stuffing tube on the boat... I sooo hope not because I am not a builder and don't wanna mess up this hull!!

Sounds like the NEU would be a good motor to me.... does anyone have one for sale?

      I have two 6s rhino 3700 20c batts..

I have two 6s Prolite 5000 thunder power 20c batts

      I have two 6s Poly RC 5000 30C batts...

So I have a variety of 6s batts to use...

I also have a bunch of matching 5s batts... both turnigy and flightmaxes....

I wonder if jeff wohlt has a flexshaft that would work with this stuffing tube that can hold up to more power?

HELP.... I wanna get this upgraded because I do want it to really go.......

Does it have a teflon liner? Is it a .150" flex now? If so, you may be able to remove the liner and the .187 flex may fit right in. I use a 1527 1.5d on 5s2p in a 34" cat and it runs low to mid sixties. The 1527 1y on 6s2p may be a better choice for lower amp draw. Either way, sounds like you have a good amount of the right batteries.

          its a .130 cable.....

don't know if its got a teflon liner or not? Ill have to ask the seller I got it from as its on its way to me.....

and actually I have (4) new rhino 3700 6s batts not two.... and these probably are what I would use in this boat because the others will have homes in my bigger boats....

I am on the verge of buying the DF 44" sniper hull and hardware from ray fuller that he built for a customer.... I have the Lehner and HV Huyang 200 amp esc ready for it..... is this sniper a good hull?

Measure the OD of the stuffing tube and see what you have. Still may be able to go at least 150 cable if it has teflon in it..

Somebody I won't say who is telling me my lehner 2250 12t high amp won't push that sniper and that the sniper is too heavy? What do you guys think? I was planning on running 8 and 10s with the 2250? Please help because I already gave money to Ray and now I need to decide of it's the sniper I'm gonna go with or his 39.5 hypro? I really like the looks of the sniper and it is a real df... He said it has alot of flotation... Also if I go with the sniper is my lehner 2250 high amp 12 turn gonna get. E to 60 mph?

It's bigger, and more efficient. You would be able to turn bigger props, so yes ..faster.
