Why not, some of the employees may race nitro boats or gas and may know very well how to work a prop. They do here..........

IMO 6s is over kill for that hull, remember that boat was designed to carry the weight of a much lighter nitro set up not the extra 5+lbs worth of batteries and electronics.
a 540XL will be taxed carrying that weight. the feiago 580 6L on 4s that John recommended can be very reliable and fast when propped accordingly.
John's (m4a1usr) boat can carry the extra weight his motor is more than capable of overpowering that hull.

Exactly why I opted for the castle motor. A couple of guys already used 540xl's in the tc-31 and it seemed that they had a little trouble finding a good combo that would run reliably without heat issues. I would use neu, castle, or a 580l. Not to say that your 540xl wont work, but be real cautious with prop selection, and watch your temps closely.

I like the way you did that. Looks smart and clean. Those 5mm x .187 couplers sure do look odd on the front of our motors. But they sure got the grip!

If you don't like the look of those couplers try these much sleeker.

It looks to me you settled on a 540XL 11 turn motor? Is that right? Listen to these guys. Too small a motor if you want to go fast. And on 6S (two 3S packs in series) your going to be turning your prop over 33k. If you do make sure that you make short runs at first. That means a small prop compared to what the rest of us are turning. Even the 442 could be too much prop at that rpm. At least with that motor. I would certainly be making short runs and checking the heat on the motor and speedo frequently. If you have not already purchased the 540XL 11 turn look at the 580 can. Its a step up for sure and if you can afford it buy one of the Neu 1415's OSE carries. That would certainly put you over the top with more motor then the hull needs but then you have lots of room to play with props and dialing the hull in with little worry of smoking something.

How much is too hot for temp?

                                having had a 580 6l on 4s imo a 12xl on 6s will be a better setup.
i personally found the 580 6l to be lacking in torque but others may have had better success.
still better than the ul-1 motor/esc he was recommended on other forums to run
