Hobbyking buys stuff from all over the place and puts their "turnigy" label on it. There are not that many different manufacturers! There are only TWO manufacturers that I would deal with. Hobbywing is one of them. Hobbywing does NOT make a 200A HV at this time. Hifei is the manufacturer of the one you are looking at:
The 180 I got from Jim came in a nice foam-lined box, was labeled Seaking on the controller, and had Hobbywing decals in the box. The next one I got from Hobby City came in a plain white box and was labeled Turnigy on the controller, and no decals in the box. They appear identical.
I'm not sure what this means, although I like the unit.

Steven, are you sure you don't mean Hifei? They developed their computer interface almost two years ago! I already accused CASTLE of Stealing Hifei's design because it is almost identical. I beta tested one of their aircraft controllers with the interface for them about 18 months ago. Great stuff!

A Hifei 120 and Castle 120 are very different from the looks of it.
The Hifei uses two opposing fet boards. The cooling plate is in the middle and used to cool both boards equally. The design is pretty nice. The Castle uses one fet board with fets on both sides and a single cooling plate to cool the inside fets, the outside fets rely on the inside plate to cool them.
Aha, guess I missed that! Right you are. I guess Hobbywing does have the ability to program the ESC on the computer.
The hifei program isn't programming, it's telemetry, recording temp, amps, volts, rpm, etc. during a flight/run. I still think
Castle copied their program for the ICE.

Yes I noticed that a year ago. They have awesome hardware design but the cloned software is just a shame. I pointed it out in a domestic forum without any official response.
Reason for the post is that LittleScreamers is sending me a test motor that he say worked very well with this esc. And doesn't work well with anything else I carry. Now its time to figure out who really makes this control.
So how was that motor doing? I am trying hard to find a cheaper alternative besides a Neu 2230, and someone recommeded Littlecreamers. Looks okay but still worry about the outrunner's water cooling efficiency, especially in such a high power (over 5KW) application, rapid heat build up can be destructive.

for a cheaper alternative check out scorpion 4035-850....at $160 its a stone cold torque monster ans jim williams has some killer water cooled motor mounts ....I have one I'm setting up in the 41" boat you see in my AVITAR
ubhauled runs one in a 1/8th scale boat he says screams
a guy on rrr runs one in a 41" boat like mine that does 70+ on 10s
hey and with an avitar like yours its a no brainer......
