I have tried this in the past as well, but it never hardened properly and I had to remove it!

Let it set for a day or 2 close to the heater to cure. It doen't ever hardened and is easily removed if you need to. I had to cut part of out so my motor would fit very easy to do and trim just how you want it.

I used that in my MM and did not have to remove it at all... on the first run I had some water get into the hull and it disolved! Made a mess and I had to clean everthing up..

I use the two part foam sold by Crystaliner boats. It is the USCG approved expanding foam for use in full size boats. It is thermally stable, does not expand after curing and is immune to water absorption or solvents.

You do need to be careful on thin hulls since it does get warm and can distort the glass. Just do small batches at a time. I especially like it along the seams and in the bow.

Is "Great Stuff low expansion foam" sandable??

I am replacing the 1/32" plywood deck on my N2 sport hydro
                (accident damage)

Can I spray in the foam, let it expand over the top, then sand the top to the shape I want??
Then epoxy the 1/32" ply for the deck to it and the frame.

Also will it expand with temperature change since it will be completely sealed in there????

No one has mentioned if Great Stuff is thermally stable! That is key if using expanding foam.

The can does say water cleanup. The great stuff requires a solvent like Acetone if you get it on your skin.

I'm at a resort owned by Nancy Green, a famous downhill skier from the 70's. Its called Sun Peaks and is about an hour out of Kamloops.

Back to the foam. I have never had any issues with thermal conditions with Great Stuff and I run my boats in the heat of the summer untill ice forms on them. It does discolour a bit when exposed to the sun but doesn't affect the strength al all.

                      Larry;

Sanding can be done but its easier to cut it to size with an exacto knife and then do some rough sanding to fit the shape you need.

Even if you cut it to size (removing the hard external "crust" ) and it comes in contact with water, it will not act like a sponge. while it looks like there are holes in the foam, those holes are actually like ......well the best way to describe it is like an Arrow chockolate bar, buy one, take a bite and look at the holes....you will see what i mean.

My sister in law's parents used to own a house out there. Better snow conditions out there than in Vancouver itself. Infact Big White would be another great resort to go to.
                        Have fun! .

Brushless55, I know what you mean by it making a mess, I found that out the first time I used it. But if you let it set up for 48hr with some heat it become sponge like without soaking up the water. I don't think it will ever harden so if you are looking for something to stiffen up your bow with this is not it. Just thought I would throw it out there. So far I've had good luck with it even when it gets wet.

Foam in R/c boats of any kind is a mistake sooner or later you will regret it.

Use a kids beach ball that takes the shape of the hull and is removeable, or 2 ltre coke bottle depending on applisation . FOAM RUINS A R/C BOAT AND KILLS RESALE VALUE . GETS WET, HEAVY , mAKES A MESS . EXPANDS WHEN TEMP RISES ABOVE 100 DEGREES IN THE SUN EVEN A YEAR LATER. GARBAGE, JUNK, CRAP , YOU WANT TO WRECK A BOAT ? PUT FOAM IN IT . i USE NOTHING BUT MAKE SURE THE DECK IS SEALED SO IT BOBBS NOSE UP LIKE A BOUY.
