Wow, those ESC really are expensive!

Isn't there maybe a cheaper alternative, you know to just get started?

Gerwin, I was not aware of that product. I have Turnigy ESC's and they are real bang for the buck.
Thanks for the heads up as I am going to order one right now.
Lizardfan, please note their is no water cooling. I will build my own.

I'm wondering if you could watercool this esc. like an Schulze 40.160 !
The first thing that went through my mind when I saw a photo of the Turnigy was :
same "base"? ( as the Suppo esc in photo: )

180$ seems affordable. What sort of battery would you then run on this? Still 5-6s?

Yes, brass as shown by Gerwin that ESC is rated up to 12S. It is up to you as far as batteries are concerned.

The gentle Douggie but he may lose his cool

Ok, I will order the esc Gerwin linked and run 3s2p 5000mAh 30c (in parallel or series??) How'd you recon that would peform??

I'd have to create some sort of watercooling for the esc, but I have some ideas in mind.

Thanks so much for the help so far! Now I actually have an idea on how to set these boats up. cheers

You already have cells or do you have to order them ?

Unfortunately I'd have to order them. Why are you asking? As said before, please correct me if I'm doing anything wrong - amperage, cellcount etc - as I'm still quite lost.

we have a guy in the club that runs one in LSO, he runs a BJ 26 on 4s and has no problem running 4 minutes with a 45 mm prop it ran pretty much all season on this set up reliable as well!

For more speed this hull can be powered on 4s and run a 1521 1.5d and run in the 50s range. and you dont need an HV speed control!

I have ran a a 1521.1.5d on 4s1p 4350mah with a m545 in a 31"mono (non lizard) hull and had more power than the hull could handle!

                              that's an option to !
I think I´m not racing orientated enough.
But i would not compare the boat in your video with a Lizard.
Yours is not that bulky, has less V and doesn't weight as much as a lizard.
Over here in Europe I've never seen a Lizard on 4S.

Ok, going to see if I have the time to place the order tomorrow.

By the way, I just took a look on the measurements on that ESC, and it's absolutely huge!

                                125mm long
                                60mm wide
                                38mm high

                                - that's insane! I just hope that it will fit in the boat.

Anyways, happy newyears eve from Denmark

                                regards
