    Need help with stinger strut

    Hey Gents,

I've got an ETTI stinger strut for one of my sport monos (ETTI oriental Dragon) and it has an enormous hole in the backplate where the stuffing tube goes, but its way too big to support a 130 cable..

    Anyone got pics?

    Bill,

Does your strut have lead bushings or is it the style that extends the stuffing tube thru the strut and then install a brass bushing?

Post some pictures; the term " enormous hole " is, er, rather ambiguous !

On my speedmaster stinger, I extended the stuffing tube about 3/16" from the hull and let the teflon liner extend another 1/2". Works for me.

Sorry. The boat is already assembled. But I just scanned the instructions for you.

So was I. But I did notice the
                  "[note]
Brass tube should protrude 1/8 in. out of transom to fit in bracket."

Bracket being the mount to the transom. Yeah...Didn't really see a "B" in those instructions to reference against the diagram. Yeah, no "b"

I'm guessin' here, but it looks like, since the mounting holes allow for up & down vertical adjustment, the "enormous hole" can allow a normal sized stuffing tube some clearance when this adjustment is made. Pix of Speedmaster 21/40 stinger.

I'm starting to figure it out, I'm just used to the strut itself supporting the tube, but in this case it will be mostly silicone, but more input will be appreciated

the stuffing tube will be supported when it passes through the transom hole which should approximate an interference fit.

Some of those stingers are designed for square drive setups that use a larger shaft at the nose end of the strut

Billy, got your pm on the shafts and couplers. I have to wait on more shafts. When do you need them?

I have the same hardware on the back of my Mogli...came with it from Ray (via RMCK), and is the only drive that fits on the moglis.
It is indeed a strange diameter. I made myself a custom bushing out of some brass tubing and loctite 603. To make everything fit correctly I had to get the brass tubing size just bigger than the hole (5/32 tubing I think, but that's from memory) and sheath concentric brass tubing down to 3/16 for my shaft. Then I put the whole thing in the drill and sanded the bushing until it just fits into the RCMK strut and viola.
                              Confusing?

Another way to do it is to start with the 5/32 tube and thin the OD down so you can fit it into the strut...then loctite 603 that into the strut and your strut is now a standard inner diameter with a nice brass surface for the bushing/shaft.
