I would like to know if anybody out there has run this motor on five cells (with I would think with a T-180 amp esc). I am scratch building a 34" outrigger and would like to run this set up. I am not familiar with this motor but it sounds like a good choice. I have an insanity rigger with a UL1 motor on 4 cells with a x642 prop that does I think around 50-55mph. I would like to be able to run this set up for about 15 laps, not just short runs with out having any issues and be faster. I am just running these boats for fun with my buddies. I also have a Miss Geico with a UL1 motor set up and an off set rudder, pretty fast without any bounce or waa, waa, waa. Please give me your input and maybe a prop suggestion. Maybe a x645? I was thinking about a turnigy nano tech 35-70c battery to go along with this. I am modeling the rigger after one of the MDI gas rigger's. Should be pretty sweet. Thanks again for any ones help and or experience with this motor and ESC combo. Riggerhunter.

You will burn up a system running a 2200kv motor on 5s. You can get away with it for short runs but not for long ones. With that setup on 4s you should be able to get most mid sized boat running in the low fifties.white geico w/2200kv 3674 leopard 53.5mph 4s2p, geico w/ 1800kv outrunner 52mph on 4s2p, genesis w/2200kv castle 53.8 on 4s2p, impulse 31 w/2200kv castle, stock p1 and ul-1Comment

i dont know how big your course but 15 laps is alot, u will have to a highly efficient system to do so and not with that motor and kv, also 2p or higher voltage with a low kv motor u will need but you may not have the room in your boatComment

With a 3674 2200kv on 4s I'm doing mid sixties on gps in a JAE, still some tuning to be done. 5s puts me in the 70's but I only go for a few passes. I've seen that combo on 6s in the 80's but again just a few passes. I wouldn't run that motor consistently on anything higher than 4s.Comment

Also suggest against running 5s, and the x645 is a lot of prop. Even on 4s the x645 is gonna heat things up, on 5s with that prop likely to blow the esc. My Leopard 4074 2200kv heats up pushing a m645. The nano-techs aren't very good at all imho, actually I hated them. The reg plain turnigy packs are better and gens ace packs are better then the HK packs all together... once again JMHO.

Thanks for the info sounds like 5s is out. In the UL1 set up on the insanity and MG I am running the stock ESC 60 amp with out any issues on 4S. If I need to stay with 4S that's fine because I have 8 packs to run. So since I have the packs is there another Leopard motor to try on them to get me in the 60's. I say this because I have not bought the 3674 or the t180 amp ESC yet.I am trying to get something to put in this boat and I will have the room to move things around as I will build around what ever set up I buy. I believe the boat will be capable. Something in the 40 dia.Leopard and what kv? As far as the course we run on it is probably around the size of a football field I guess?Comment

Just in case you didn't get the idea, 5s with 2200kv is a bad idea and would not last, especially for 15 laps. Why 15 laps? I once heard a saying there is quality, speed and price, you only get to pick two. So a similar idea is you either have a reliable, efficient set up, or you have a set up that hauls ass but also eats up the amps. Your standard 2 min boat race is about 6 laps, double that and you get the offshore course at 4 min, and im not sure on the laps cause i haven't run an off shore course but it probably isn't more then 12 especially since the course is longer and has an extra turn.
So 15 laps would be like running for 5 min or so, to do this you could step back to say 1600 kv and run 5s2p. would be fast and may have enough juice to get you the run time.Comment

You are scratch builiding a rigger which is highly commendable, but your power train thoughts are dubious. The hull design looks like what? ...The rigger guys may then chime in with their experience

Decent amount of power, much more so in the torque area, has more get up and go when you hit the throttle. Can't hold the throttle down anymore with new setup, lake gets small real fast. Using the T180 and an H-7.Comment
