Running a bigger can like a 4074 will put beating on batteries cause the power the produce also you might need to go 3/16 flex shaft , 3674 2200kv will deff be nice reliable and easy on electronics and batts , you will not be ballistic fast but I learn that slow is fast

The 4074 will produce more torque & spin larger props, i wouldnt use a .150" flex on that size motor id go with .187" deff.

Thanks for the tip Martin. I have ordered the 3674 and t 180 I will give this a run. I started building the rigger if I can figure it out I will try and post some pictures as I go along. I have ordered the paint and I am going to paint it safety orange
and white with blue graphics. I have one more question and you seem to be very knowledgeable with everything. On my small rigger Insanity I am having a problem with the teflon liner sliding up the stuffing tube towards the motor. I have tries just about everything and cannot get it to stay put. Nothing sticks to it. If you have an answer that would be great. I do use grimracer grease on the cable.

Re liners moving up or spinning, if the liner on the coupling end is a bit longer than the brass stuffing tube you can put a piece of silicon water tube onto the brass tube so that it goes over the liner as well. This can help stop the liner turning, you can also use ptfe plumbers tape & bind it around the liner in 3 or 4 places along its length then insert into the stuffing tube. bind it so its a little tight as the ptfe squashes down quite easy & this stops it from turning & is still removable.

If you want the long runtimes, the setup has to run cool (you can't push the amps given the motor/ESC), and then you can run a 2P battery config.
My son has a cc1518 1800KV motor and a hydra240A ESC (240 is overkill, 180 would work fine) on a 31" mono with an x642 prop. He runs mid 40s for 8min with 4S2P 5000mah packs, and the boat will come in cool. We have also run that boat on 5S2P.

The nice thing about the 1800kv motor is that it is very flexible-- for long runtimes and sport running you can use 4S2P, and if you want speed and less runtime you can run 5S2P (if you have enough ESC for it).

            4S x1800 = ~26,640 rpm
            5S x 1800= ~33,300 rpm
Both of these RPMs are reasonable

With 2200kv you'd want to stick with 4S, but I think it would be hard to get that running cool enough to go for extended runtimes on a 4S2P config. You'd have to prop way down, then you'd start to deal with cavatation issues. If you dropped to 3S2P, then your RPMs would be too low.

Chief Thanks for the reply. I have already ordered the 2200kv. Have you ever tried an x442 prop this was one of Steve's suggestions from OSE. Is this a little bit smaller of pitch but same dia.?
