Thanks guy's , I will see the guy that thinks his whip is "fat" this weekend and report what you have said.
Acually it's a X Mike Martin boat I he was using for P hydro and I know it has lead in the sponson tips.
      Thanks T.C.

I did some testing with my P-sport setup today and got a 68mph peak. Bare in mind that this was smooth water. I don't think that this speed is possible in race water conditions... Although, it didn't even seem like it wanted to blow over.

          First race of the year

Last Sunday was the first race of the year and I ran my whip 20 in LSH. I got 1st place in each of the 3 heats.

This was also the first official FE race held in IMPBA dist 4... so it was a first for a couple of things We had a total of 7 FE racers show up.

Below is the eagle tree data from the first heat if anyone is interested.

Temp A = ESC capacitor temp
Temp B = Motor bullet connector temp
Temp C = Motor can temp

            What prop were you running?
Are the temp's considered normal for your setup?

It was a sharpened and balanced m445 with no prop mods. The temps are consistant with my other 10 testing runs prior to the race.

The funny thing is, my whip wasn't the fastest one there. Doug Peterson's was noticeably faster than mine.

so your running the BJ motor, 5000mah and m445 ? how much left in the cells after a race?

I Tried the m445 on my whip 20 with 8xl and it was blisteringly fast, was passing 2 boats at a time down the back straight, but didn't have enough MAH to finish the race..

Might be time to get some new cells....

I fried my BJ motor on my second test run using a m645... so I replaced it with a UL-1 motor and the m445.

I'm using 2 x XPS 2S 5000mAh 30C packs in series. mAh consumed during a heat race is between 3000-3400 mAh.

Thanks for that man, food for thought, might have to get me a ul1 motor for the whip..

Any idea of amp draw ? I think the 8xl with m445 was about 116amps.

Here is the amp chart from my heat race...

The average shown in the chart is 73amps, but the average is more like 82amps if you discount the mill lap at the beginning of the heat.

very cool thanks for that, that is a fairly low average amp draw for that prop... must be quite an efficient motor!
