Maybe the Etti 150 would be OK...do not know? I would use the higher quality 35c Hyperion cells (especially using 4s1p) to be on the safe side. I do know that low discharging cells will kill an ESC.

    BTW... great job Properchopper

Detox, gahhh. You got 60mph with an m445 on 4s. Nice!

Id just go with a Hydra 120 keep the prop at an x442 or m440 as said, then you will see a High 40's boat and still be pretty fun light setup.

Dean, what are you trying to achieve...speed....long run times?

This is not a cheap hobby. So state your goals and be realistic.

Dean : Speed / runtime / budget price : Choose any TWO.

To run 4 minutes at high speed you'll need some high quality batteries [ not cheap], a high efficiency motor [ not cheap] and a speed control with plenty of headroom - the Seaking 180 might do it, but plenty of watercooling [ a band-aid at best].

Speed as other have mentioned comes at a cost, what is your budget and a long run time negates a truly fast boat on two passes

I use the 1515/1y in the Vegas, just like Tony... in my opinion, having the 1521.1.5d might be overkill... doable but overkill.
The 1515 is PLENTY of motor for that hull...
On the other hand, it might be a fun project, make sure that you reinforce the hull man... you'll need it.

The 1521 1.5D is a great motor for 4S with a big prop. I run one in my DF 33 on 4S
5000 G3's as 2P with a Hydra 240. I can spin a X450/3 for a 2 min. heat + mill with nominal temps. Jay Turner runs this motor in a 33" Aeromarine P-Sport Hydro with good results. Put the 1521 1.5D in the 30" Vegas on 4S and any prop bigger than a 445 will likely give some bad outside sponson lift. A smaller prop on 5S should work, but 5S batt's are too tall to fit under the hull on the sides of the motor, where they should be to get the cg right. Jan's correct, the 1515 1Y is just right fore the Vegas on 4S. Sell your 1521 1.5D & get the Castle/Neu 1515 1y & you'll come out ahead money and performance-wise.

that motor can handle BIG props, like UB said, its probably overkill! I run that motor in a same size hull and turn 45 -50mm props with ease, on 4s1p 6500mah 35c lipos.

The X442 works great on a 1521 1.5d with a 12 cell Nimh set up. I ran an entire race season on that set up. though it did torture the cells,150 160 degrees after 1mile heat yikes! I threw a bunch cells away during the entire season. ( I tortured them on purpose)

Mike, you'll have miles of smiles with that boat. Give the wire drive with the ball bearing strut some thought, I really like mine.
