...the red titan in the picture looks real nice...seems you wernt using 2.4 digital on that correct?
Why would you even say that? Yes, I was running the Spektrum 2.4 gig module in my HiTec SRX.

The main problem is most certainly not your ESC or your radio. The guy who had the boat before you never ran as fast as he said he did with that setup on 4S, period, not possible. You need a motor with a higher Kv and a larger pinion gear.

Well the reason I assumed you were not using 2.4 is simply because I saw the long whip antenna tube

Oooops! Yes, I had not cut the tube on that boat when the photo was taken. Sorry. Is this better?

Are you sure the previous owner wasn't running that motor/gear drive ratio on 6S??

You need to find a spur gear that is 50-55. Just a few teeth bigger than your pinion gear. That will get you a nice running 4S setup with a X645.

Make sure your gear lash is set correctly. There should be an ever so slight bit of play between the gears.

If you're still not getting in the 40's with this, start trouble shooting your ESC and cells.
where would I find that spur gear 50-55?.......also your opinion on running this with a hacker b50 7xl on 4s?

would that 50 spur 48pinion put less stress on the motor than my 68 spur 48 pinion I have now?

A 48/50 gear ratio will make the motor work harder than a 48/68 gear ratio. More amps...more speed. But on 4S, the 9XL will be fine with an X645 prop.

Either go with a lower gear ratio on the 9XL or use the 7XL with the gear ratio you have.

PM me your address...I may have what I'm talking about and I'll send it to you.

Also, I like the 45 tooth pinion gear because it's the biggest gear you can have and not have to remove it from the motor to make adjustments to the motor-to-gear drive assembly, assuming you're using a Fine turbo tranny.

this is good news...i will just put my 48 pinion back in and stick the hacker 7xl in there (will this handle 5s) Mr D?

ok know how you have to take the turnfins and the trin tabs off the sv27 to put some caulking or sealant on the back of the harware before you remount them because they leak water

dont you have to do this with all the harware on the back of a boat...I know you get the parts lined up and drill the holes and use bolts to mount them but dont you use a caulking on the hull first before you mount the harware?

remember i'm a fast learning noooob

If you must, then why not silicone? I haven't done it yet, but now that you mention it, I might also. Maybe a little piece of gasket material from autoshop?

So I just got mine and it has a shortened strut, 2" instead of 3". Is there a reason for this? I was recommended to shorten the one on my DF26, but just noticed that yours is longer than mine. Not to be envious, but I was thinking that these longer hulls would need a full 3" strut? am I being goofy or should I get me an extended strut?
