Last weekend we had a rc boat meeting in Netherlands. I ran my T800 Tunnel with a Turnigy XK 3674 1650kV on 6S. With a 643 prop I got a new speed record of 98km/h.

      Hi dirk,
I downloaded and printed your plans for the F1 T800.

the build is going pretty good.

do you have a more detailed procedure for finishing the cowl mold... what materials to use and how many layers of fiberglass to use to finish it.

also more information on the fiberglass used on the sponsons and the center section of the boat.

      thanks for your help

      Jim

        Hi Jim,

That sounds good on your build! I used 100 gr/m2 cloth for laminating the hull.
For a glass fiber hatch, I recommend 4 or 5 layers of 100gr/m2 with a 45-degree weave orientation difference between the layers

The mold itself I made from hard foam and plywood. I covered it in 2x 100gr/m2 glass, and I used filler to make it smooth. I painted it high gloss, and I initially waxed it 4 times with release wax before applying the hatch weaves. I also use PVA wax as a final release coat.
With that method, I've pulled at least 20 hatches from the same mold. Good luck!

Thanks for the information Dirk that helps alot!

I am figuring out how everything is going to fit inside, and considering making the cooling conversion on the esc since the manufactured design seems useless for cooling. I just about have the sponsons completed. Having a great time building and really makes me think, so I don't mess things up.
