So far I have most of the data that I need.
All I need now is the depth of the step and the distance from the rear to the two steps. After that I'll leave you alone......for a while.

    Thanks guys.
    See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

finally got my boat in the water after along time owning one, first the square end stripped out i didnt even get it up to speed no big deal jb weld then i ran it with 4s2p with 10 xl and carbon 45 prop, the strut was set as far up as it would allow which is not above the last step of sponson, which i believe is recomended on most cats to sit above the last a 1/4 inch or so, my cat also has the tweaked sponson like some do.

first cat i have drove and it did not hop cg was about 30% and i did not have flotation up front (i no i no) it ran mid 30's then it stripped again, motor was hot for the few passes i made i something in the drive line kept binding up i think, it did it on the work stand

the hardware is good but i dont like the cable setup with the square tip on it and difficult to remove and clean, i would like to use a .150 cable has anyone tried using a octura bearing sleeve to make this conversion

Interesting paint scheme. Did you paint the checkboard or is it vinyl? I like it!!

              twin drive package

OK, have you guys seen the twin drive package that head of the river has on thier site? Motors to prop nuts, but no props for 108 delivered. Basically you can get the cat hull bare and drivetrain for $250 delivered!

Late tonight and I have a head cold, have to look at the motors and KV and see if it looks like it would work. Not looking for speed records or racing, just for sport running with the kids. I had all but written off this hull.......

Still not sure if it would be worth the twin drive on a sport boat other than the looks of twins. One with a strudder would push this plenty fast....

You need to ask them what size the motors are...diameter and length. diameter: 20mm? 24mm? 28mm? 36mm? I'll bet they are 28mm. Those are pretty small motors.

I came across that twin drive system this evening also......at first glance it looked ground breaking and tempting......after further research
I say junk motors and junk 4mm flex and prop shaft

It speaks of "trouble" to me

Looking at the motor the proportions of it tell me it is a long can 380.
This whole powertrain looks very much like a response to the Venom EKOS.
Not a bad idea from a commercial point of view, and if folk can have twin drive cat that can run up arround 40mph then all is good.

I like the EKOS and have always liked the HOTR hull, so if there are ways to get the HOTR to run like a EKOS then that is better for the whole FE community.

There ya go, RTR or similar class racing at a local club level.
Twin 380's ..........oh you guys can sort out the class rules.

There is now a lot more hardware on the market for twin cats. THAT is very good.

                        package blues

yes looks like a Ekos copy. They have the motors listed seperately as FSD 2881 kv motors. 28mm dia x 58mm long for $36 + $8 SH

Then you need to replace the flex cable, two props, two speed controls.... So unless I really want the look of twin drives, it still seems better to go with a single strudder drive with a 36mm size brushless..

Almost talked myself into one of these again with that drive package.. Whew!!!

I want a sport offshore hull for the kids to run also. I am trying to keep myself from pulling a mold off of a Dumas 30" scarab that I have. Some wave jumping, good speed up around 30mph, scale looks. Love the looks of this cat, but maybe I should stick with the mono for simplicity. Lower power seems to work in the V's with how easy they plane.

Ya got it backwards. The EKOS is a copy of the HOTR cat! The HOTR has been around a LONG time.

                            Thanks

sorry, I was just referring to the drive package. Still new to this, thought head of the river was now offering a drive package to duplicate the drive package on the Venom king of shaves. Reading so much, I can't keep it all straight!

                              My Ferrari cat is gone.

It is not damaged , -I just it.

I did not plan to do that, but some1 emailed me and asked how much, and now it is gone. Hope the new owner loves it like I did.

Oh well...now I can start planning something else to build. (maybe dual motors this time...will c what to do next).
