What steering linkages you use?

ordered this with the cat and thinking what else I need to get. (i have upright and laydown servo mounts)

Would one be enough or maybe use 2 and make it push/pull?

Is that hardware what I linked on post #224 threaded to fit these? -that would be too good I guess...

they rudder/strut has its own steering rod holder,the rod just slides threw and gets retained with a grub screw. would be hard to do a push pull set up not enough room to stand a servo up

Scott to the rescue again! , I watched that pic again..it does come with steering rod holder!

So if these rods I ordered wont fit(if the threaded part is 2mm,so 2.5mm the rest of it??? ) can I use some piano wire or what do you guys use?

-how do you attach that (what ever you use) to the servo ? -just bending it or is there some trick?

Pate not sure what you have for a hobby shop close by but this is what I use that one of our local shops carries.

along with a 4-40 piano wire rod that is threaded on one end for the ball link and solder the kwik link that connects to the servo to the other end of the rod.

Thanks Ken, I emailed that pic and the links you provided to my lhs, will see what they reply.

Maybe that 2mm rod is too thin what I ordered, but idk until I see it. If I can get that 4-40(3mm?) locally, I will get it

Contacted the hotr guy, and he shipped my boat 11-Aug-2009 and The item left Hong Kong for its destination on 13-Aug-2009 -usually it will take 3-5 days after leaving HK, so it should be here soon

edit:It is in Finland! 3 days from HK ! It is most likely going in customs atm -the bast**ds want their 22% ... so I will get it maybe on monday !

Got the cat...is this normal? -maybe it will straighten some if I put some block between the sponsons while glassing it?

It feels really light and fragile...glad I got that c/f cloth .

yea they are very light, run the carbon from above the seam one side to sbove the seam on they other and just past the hatch opening either end, this will stiffen the tunnell were you mount the motor and the steps in the sponsons. then if you can run a strip of c/f or glass cloth on the seam as far forward as you can get

Guys, i have the same hardware. The other day i ran over something in the pond, and the break away nylon screw broke off. Good thing it was on there. Anyways, i need a new break away nylon screw. Where can i get one?

I just checked my hull and the sponsons sit at the same angle. Don't think this will be a Problem.

Thanks Ken, Since you have them like this too it is not one off thing then. -weird thing is that the H&M Agitator looks straight, this does not. (I guess that you get what you pay..I did not even had to pay taxes of this...atleast that saved me 30€ )

And if the sponsons lean that way, wont they act like turn fins? -sharp edges...

I too hope that this "angled sponson design" wont affect the handling much.

Thanks for the link Ken. That nylon screw doesn't look like the one came with the hardware, but I'll check with Steven (OSE).

How did you guys instal that hardware on transom?

Did you strenghten it with anything? -gluing extra plywood inside the hull is not going to be easy, this is so low hull at the back.

Maybe I should just dab some c/f cloth in there?

Motor mounting location should be easy to choose...the motor will only fit inside the cockpit

I cut a piece of ply and epoxied it in the strut holder. Before it hardened too much I drilled and used blind nuts...I had to use hemostats to hold the nuts to get them started...a real pain but worked and they are not moving. Now I can remove the bolts and nuts stay there.

Just need to finish the cooling in mine and it is ready. 8XL, 4S and Etti 150. Probably start with m440 and end up with a 640. I am going to push one of my 62 wires in it for now but was built for 078 wire.
