Thanks guys, I think I'll wait on Steve's hardware. Until then I have just got the boat in the mail today and I need some help determining where to mount the motor, (8xl) at least i can start fitting my stringer mount while waiting on hardware thanks again and sorry in advance for the noobe questions this is my first naked hull and i would like to get it set up right.Comment

If you mean a 150 cable with 3/16" stub I have one if you can't wait.
edit...I see you mean hardware. The system Steve carries is directly for that cat.Comment

thanks again guys this is what I have so far from out of the box to now. This is the motor placement that I figued the batteries could easily correct if its not perfect I think its pretty close though. Oh, and thanks tunda but I think I'll wait for the OSE set-up with the .150 flexComment

forgot to ask but, what batteries are you running ,lipo? 4s,6s? and what are your speeds ? I will be running the 8xl w/ the ETTI 150 and i'm not quiet sure on the batteries .All I have on hand are 2s packs so I'll try those to start.Comment

I think you will be pushing it if you go more than 4S, just my experience with my 8XL hydro. 4S in my 28" hydro make it go almost 50."Look good doin' it"

50 would make me happy and I wouldnt have to poke out any more cash for batteries so that would work. What do you think of the motor placement ,figured you could give me a pretty good answer.I read through you intruder build as this was supposed to be a twin but i think I'll start off slow ,but that thing is sweet, awesome job man!Comment

I am glad you enjoyed the intruder thread, it has been a serious team event! A lot of generous people on here have provided significantly to the success. We are almost there, just need to do some ironing of the wire drive technology.
my philosophy with motor placement is to put it near CG and adjust with batts.
However, it is not as simple, you want to think about battery placement - down in the sponsons is where the bilge lives... so elevated some is better for keeping batts dry. What size batts also counts, you are talking about 2S so a pair in series is easy to move around, even put on edge next to motor if you need. Sorry to not give you a direct simple answer, but preference plays a lot. I like to know I will have room for bigger batteries and more importantly, be able to shift batteries and go from more than 33% back to 25%. If you don't have this range, think about repositioning the motor so that you do.
Maybe someone with that hull might have the ideal position, but until you get all your hardware and batteries in place, it is hard to say exactly where.
Hope this helps,

with the 8xl on 4s with a x640-642 should see you in the high 40s to low 50s, with the inline rudder they can get fairly twitchy at that speed so make sure your steering servo, steering rod are set up well with no slop
nice build by the wayComment
