Hi peoples, im new here, just bought a modified 32" rtr with a i think 8xl (hes not sure of the kv) .Running 2x 2550 4s parralel and a 3 blade prop im not sure of size yet. He said its good for 80klm, i havent got it in the water yet.
I too have moved from 1/10th cars to fe boats. Im still tryn to sort my first project, a 890mm V with 2x 3s 5000 series=6$s and 11XL 200amp HIamp mystery esc. Cooked my first 100amp esc, then cheap hk lipos, waiting for 5000's to arrive to continue with this hull.

The TWIN MOTOR cats is what got me started. the sound and roost is just bliss. I need to build a twin cat next, that will wake all the campers at the huge fresh water dam a couple hrs from my house. Im tossing up to buy another river 32" and install twins, or go bigger and build a ply version around 1.5m. trouble is power plants NEU? LMT? lipos + hi amp esc's.......its a lot of investment for something that can get wet and fry. Not to mention no choice of cheaper china power trims to match the thier hulls.
I used head of the river for all my hardware. couldnt recommend him enough.

        Stevo.
I just went out & put a straight edge across mine after reading your post.
At the transom both sponsons are flat.
At the first & second step they are as you say, higher on the inner edge.
Halfway between the steps, also the same.
Could be design, but more likely because it's a cheap copy.
Would have to check the original to be sure.
        Paul.

ammo motor doesnt have much torque. you need a xl size motor a 8-9xl would be good

Try taking out your electrics, and do it in reverse.
Fill up your boat with water and see where it comes out.

is your flex shaft greased up,if not it can pull water up the stuffer tube.also check your water lines and cooling jacket, pressurise them with a syringe to make sure there not leaking, last thing is the bolts for the hardware

Bathtub testing will find leaks, but only when the boat is stationary.
I have been there and done the wet boat thing, I now have a system that lets me run a dry boat.

Firstly the strut / stuffing tube, I run the tube into the strut and then a bit of heatshrink to cover where it enters also run the shaft well greased, I make sure I have a drivedog no bigger than the diameter of the strut, as this can turn the water around and pump it up the tube. Water can enter the stuffing tube by allowing water in the front of the strut, hitting the drivedog and pumping it back up the tube. Also monos are a pita if you mount the end of the stuffing tube too low and when the boat is at rest it jut pours on in lol.

Second thing is your cooling system. I have found pinholes in tubing and leaky water jackets by pressure testing the watercooling by taking off the line off the rudder/pickup and using an electric nitro pump to pump water through the system at pressure. Once its not leaking while having water pumped through it I put my finger over the outlet. Every boat I run now gets this test prior to running and I use it to flush the salt water from the cooling system as our pond is half salt.

Rubber bellows for steering rod - I pack this with silicone grease, you can use vaseline but its a bit messier

Antenna tube needs a cap on the end in case of a flip

Some people use a bit of glow fuel tube over the end of the stuffing tube , i have found if you setup the strut/tube right you wont need it.

                          Lol sorry to thread Hijack

thats the ul-1 motor (ammo2030) and would be a better motor for his cat as the 2300 doesnt have much tourqe. wish ammo would make some xl size 6 pole motors
