Yes, here it is once more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTmlh...e=channel_page

I tried filming today while driving it at the same time because nobody went out to the lake. Did not come out good, neither driving or shooting. Capacitors were 140 F. Not too bad, but not so good either. I discovered that power wires on my 40/160 are actually closer to 12 gauge than 10. So I had each 10S battery pack connected to the ESC board with 3" of wire that is too thin to be there... Will be replacing them with proper 10 gauge wires just like on battery packs. Run time was about 10 minutes. Was not wide open throttle, just playing around type of driving with some full speed straight passes. FETs were barely warm to the touch, while caps, motor and batteries were much hotter - around 130 - 150 F. Motor's shaft was much hotter than outside case, so watercooling is doing something. Once I get new data logger, I will experiment with higher timings. Maybe motor will run more efficiently and cooler.

Adding 6 extra caps to Schulze 40. 160

Hit a buoy marker - crashed the boat. Got lots of cracks in the hull. Spent 2 weeks fiberglassing the inside. Hull got few pounds heavier. Caps on controller got bent, so I soldered 6 more caps to it. Old caps work, but I don't trust them. It's very easy to add 6 more caps to existing traces on the circuit board.

So I decided to start from scratch and got a new hull. I am concentrating on building it as light as possible this time. Will be using new fan cooled Neu 2215 2Y with new Schulze future-xl-40.160WK, PolyRC 2x 4S 6000mAh LiPo and same 55mm prop. So far the boat is 13 pounds total. My previous boat was 24 pounds total after I reinforced it with fiber glass and Polyester resin. Glassing added 5 pounds. I will mount all electronics including battery and servo in waterproof container inside the boat. I expect speeds between 52 - 57 MPH at this voltage. I want to stick to that speed for now so I can learn how to drive it without running into marker buoys. Few pics from last week:

And more pictures. Check out little guy that was making noises in my garage for last 3 days. Anyone know what king of lizard it is?

Lookin good! Are you planning on running 8s1p 6000mah total?

I run this motor in a few different cats and a mono all Aeromarine 43"-44" hulls,, on 10s2p 10,000/30c with 40/160esc and x460 prop.. Nothing gets hot, and speeds are just above 60mph.. Great for oval racing with the gassers!

That lizard may be an ANOLE.

Yea, I will try 8S1P for now. The boat is 6 pounds lighter than my previous build (10S2P 10Ah 6.5 lbs battery weight - 19 pounds total before glassing). So maybe 8S will be fine for speed in mid 50's with only 13 pounds. I was getting 70 MPH on 10S1P with 16 pound build. I liked the way it handled on 10S1P than with extra 3 pound battery. Now with 43C/70C LiPos out, it may not be necessary to do 2P anymore even for race setups. But run time will be short. If only ESC manufacturers could release maximum allowable voltage drop specifications for their controllers, and include software code to monitor and shut down the controller if excessive voltage drop occurs. That would end all the guess work out of choosing right battery.

                                Video from last Sunday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaIOIdJsTM0

                                Setup: PolyRC 8S1P 6000mAh 25C, future 40.160, Neu 2215 2Y fan, Octura X455, 1/4" flex shaft. RTR weight is 12.5 lbs.
Data: 120A peak, 90A average. Battery = 130F, Motor = 105F (water cooled). ESC warm to the touch, will test capacitor temperature next time. Did not GPS speed yet, looks like high 50's. Run time is 5 minutes. Pictures later.
