Sorry, UB. I messed up with the codec and got 1086 MB file after 1 hour of rendering. I am trying again, but now it is expected to be online by 3 am.

Bad day today. 2215 burned up. Not sure why. Controller is fine.

Anton, that's a great video.... nice handling on her... why do you run w/o a cowl?
Another thing, lipos are best when at 120F their resistance drops considerably, so make sure that
it does not get too cold.

Now, sorry about the motor... What where you doing?! Running normally and then just "pooof" ?

I ran without it because it's a pain to mount and I have taped down all openings. Good point on battery temperature, will try to regulate cooling somehow to keep them close to 120F.

Now, full story on motor incident. Ran the boat around the race course, maybe 7 laps. Aimed to run it until voltage cutoff would signal that battery is discharged. So, the controller started throttling down and I turned around and headed for the shore. Then within 2 seconds all power was lost, motor did not spin at all. That was strange, usually I can still drive for a awhile at low speed. When I got the boat and peeled off the lid, immediately the smell of winding lacquer poured out with some hints of water vapor that looked like smoke at first. Smell of lacquer did not smell burned. I touched the motor and it was very hot to the touch, could not hold it. Water cooling was NOT clogged. I watched outlet nozzles during the run. Something was very wrong that could cause the motor to get that hot with functional water cooling that kept motor at 105F day before. Looking at copper windings through back ventilation holes I noticed a single strand of wire that was darker than the rest. I did not run data logger that time, so no data on amp draw. I did notice slower speed at the beginning of the run, but no GPS data either. It just seemed a little bit slower to me today. Flex shaft was greased and grease was thinned with light mineral oil as usual. I spun the prop by hand, as I do after every time I grease the shaft. Did not feel stiff at all, felt as usual.

Also, the controller does not want to arm anymore with that motor. It did arm once and I gave it little throttle. Motor tried to spin but stuttered badly. I guess this indicates partially shorted phase, that does not have any back EMF for controller to estimate proper rotor position. Controller spins my old 2230 just fine.

what's the voltage for the cutoff?
                      It never overheated?
That sounds like a burned motor to me unfortunately.

Cutoff is around 3.125V per cell or 25V total.
What overheated? Controller? It was normal temp. to the touch, same as every other run before. LiPos were the same.
Looks like burned motor to me as well. Just hooked it up to my old Hydra 120 on 5S. Hydra did arm with it, but quickly gave up trying to spin it as well.

The question remains on why did it get so hot and why is there a shorted strand in the stator. Could it be shot lacquer insulation? Lacquer that is poor quality or applied to thin? I will be calling Mr. Neu on Tuesday.

Laquer melts under heat... extreme heat. like a short or over powering the motor.
How about the screws? Are they cut or is there a chance you
accidentally could have touched the wires w/ them?

Screws are cut and it's impossible to touch wires with them due to turbo fan being in the way. I am not ruling out motor being over powered, maybe due to incorrect timing setting? This controller is set on auto timing. It did not want to arm set in neutral. So I measured amps and left it in auto. I don't have programming software or USB adapter for this Schulze. I ran it pretty much straight out of the box.
