Just a few pics of my recently finished sport 20, had her first test run today just to make sure all was well. Has a Nue 1515 1y running a m545 prop, Hydra 240 and PQ 4s 1P. Strut is set at 1" from bottom of strut to bottom of hull with 1Deg angle. Turn fin is Blazer Marine. All I can say that apart from a faulty brand new reciever pack and not taking a spare ment I had to use the Bec on the ESC on 4s so runs where limited to two packs., this thing is AWSOME turns flat out and I mean flat out. Due to where I tested being small only saw 53.5 mph but could not realy let her rip. If any of you guys runing these can chip in with your set ups in strut depth , turn fin angle etc that would br great

That sure is a nice build. I know you well enough to know that if you are happy with a boat then it is no slouch. I know where you are running it and the fact that you got it to 53 mph on that little bit of water means it will fly when it gets more room. It is good to see the pics of it on the water. What is it's ready to run weight?

Raydee that wuold be great . The rooster from the fin is almost as big as the roost from the prop, a lot of drag there. How deep are you running your strut? I will take mine back to 22mm because it did not at anytime look like flipping. When it got airbourne over chop it flew real level.

Andy I will measure mine today and let you know. Me and my bud tried quite a few fins on the whips and while the Blazer fin was the most stable on the boat it also caused the most drag even in the straights. We ended up with a fin design that is longer and more narrow and it really did the trick. I have a simular design on my Sport 40 hull and that hull turns like there is no tomorrow. It may loosen up your hull a tad bit since there will be a speed increase but then you will just need to find the strut depth sweet spot and you should be good. I actually took out my Neu 1515 1Y and replaced it with a Hacker 7XL because my hull was so slow and was running hot. After multiple PM's with Andrew I ended up putting my Hacker back in the boat thinking my Neu was defective. We ruled out a def motor and he helped me get my setup right. It ended up being the same with the hacker anyway so I borrowed a real small fin from a buddy and the boat was 5 mph faster. I then made a few strut adjustments and it was even better. I basically took the fin design that my bud made and made it bigger all the way around and a bit longer and the boat still had the speed but it held much better and was more stable. I really want to put the Neu back in the boat now that I have the setup nice and drag free but I also like to be able to spin the smaller props I have with the Hacker 2 pole motor. The Neu is really pretty much useless in that hull on anything smaller than a 45mm prop. I run a x440 for longer run times now and a x442 for speed. I am going to save the 1515 1Y for a Phil Thomas SS21 that my girl is buying me for my B-Day.

I'm not sure how you guys are getting away with such large props on the 1515/1Y. Many of us are topping out on x640 or x642s as far as speed and heat go. I guess it could be the course size, but my club races on an 1/8th mile oval most of the time. A typical boat is an SS21-sized hull. I'm not saying you're not doing it, just curious....

Jay I wondered the same. When I first put my 1Y motor in I was told not to run over a 42mm prop with it but after my first couple runs even with a 42mm prop the boat wouldn't make any speed. I was afraid to prop up but the temps were so low with the 42mm that I easily went to a 45mm prop. I was told some guys are even running a 46mm 3 blade

Is it possible that there is a change in the motor design that could be the reason why some are able or have to run the larger diameter props? I def want to try my 1Y in the boat again before the water gets hard and see that now its running better if I can get away with the 42mm prop and still have the speed I am seeing now with the Hacker motor.

And why, may I ask, did you NOT supply a Raydee "Killer turn fin" with that gas powered sled I just got from you??

Bill, I never even thought about trying a different style fin on that hull But you never know a different fin may add more speed to that hull too. I never had a Whip Gas in my area to compare it to. It ran so good and stable at 60+ MPH that I was just happy with it the way it was. Shoot me a email when you get back and let me know how it does.

i ran my 1Y in FE2 this weekend on M447 and 645 and it loved it
after a 6 lap legal IMPBA race i ran 89 deg motor temps and 121 deg pack temps 1P

Nice looking build mate, good to see another FE whiplash in OZ :)
My strut is set at 15mm between the bottom of the strut and the underside of the deck and i use a Blazer turnfin and that has 36mm of fin below the sponson..I normally run an M445 with my 1515 1y and it must be traveling in the low 90 KM's I need to GPS it. I might try a m545 i have this weekend if i go to racing.
