I think I'll mix up something like a medium grey with a little pearl then do some red accent colors, but just a few here and there, then clear it. I don't want to spend to much time on this paint job, my plan is to keep it simple but decent quality. I'll be spraying it in a car paint booth.

Looking great Jeff, like an old pro
It's fun following a build I know I'll get to see run in person. Soon as that evil stuff that's floating on the water goes away I'll have the pontoon back in, last year it was the day it melted lol. You'll have to bring her out so we can get some testing in before Flint, last spring I think we got about three weeks....

Are go going to be racing, or thinking about the possibility of doing some racing in the future? If so I would think again about giving it a mid grey paint base, as nobody will be able to see it if/when it stops on the course, ruining your and their day.

No I won't be doing any lap racing. I did consider the fact that the grey will be a little difficult to see, but I figured I'll give it a shot. I am trying to figure out a design right now actually that will allow me to add some red to it....none yet

Ok so here are my thoughts. Paint the entire boat black with a little pearl added. Then paint the side with some flame red then go over the red with a very light silver. Then paint the windshield a light silverish grey. Maybe I'll add a very thin silver pin stripe in between the black and red then clear the whole thing and buff out. Check out my sweet layout with markers on my backup hull lol man I hate painting.

Well I couldn't get in to use the paint booth this week so I just built a paint booth complete with a huge exhaust fan to the outdoors since my shop is in the basement. So far it's working flawlessly. And I'm able to keep the temp right at 74 degrees.

This is one AWESOME BUILD!!!! I am thinking of building the same boat for NAMBA (lap racing -P Mono). I am fooling around with a Pursuit. If the Pursuit makes me pull my hair out, I will be ordering a DF35.
Great job on the build and please keep posting the progress.

juat finished up with the base coat. It's hard to tell but it has a silver tint to the black with some pearl added it,I think it looks cool. This weekend I'll spray some fire red and maybe do a wrinkle effect with it, we'll see how much time I have Saturday and the windshield will be a grey/silver. I think it turned out good I'm pleased with it. image.jpgimage.jpg
