Thats a better job on the vids paddy. I hate to see Mr krabs cripple like that. By the way she runs now you have a feel for it. Good job on the build.

Andy, the only speed record I am after at the moment is just my personal one to see the gps read 100 mph. Then 110 mph, 120 mph etc.
Here is the speed conversion link I told you about....
Online converter for units of speed. Kilometers per hour, miles per minute or seconds per mile? Instantly convert any unit to all others.
Jan, I am going back to testing the Xzess 2 while I wait for the CF rod to repair Mr Krabs so I will be able to give you some videos of that.Several boats in various stages of destructionComment

(has been waiting on the video) Is it in another thread?IMPBA: 7-Time FE World Record Holder "Don't think outside the box. Rather, refuse to admit that the box exists in the first place!"

Ben,
I am still repairing Mr Krabs but it is almost done. I had to wait 3 weeks for CF tube to come from the mainland to make a new sponson boom. That will tell you why we love Steven's service so much down here. Parts are here in 1 week from Steven but it takes anything up to a month from our mainland. Anyway that's enough brown nosing to Steven from me. I will post on this thread when the next videos are online.

Here are some videos of Mr. Krabs at the pond this morning. Setup is Neu 1521 1.5D, M545 prop and 4s Lipo. Best speed was 108 kph or a little over 67 mph. I know that is not an amazing speed but it is the fastest speed I have ever done on 4s Lipo's. Mr. Krabs keeps getting faster each time I go so I am happy with the progress.
Now the bad news.....
Just before the end of the last video you will see Mr. Krabs lift his sponsons off the water. I backed off a little and continued going. You will then see the boat stop. Looks like I cooked my Barracuda 180. I guess it is time to put the YGE Navy 200 in for the serious bit that is to come. I am not blaming the Barra 180 as I can see I got a little carried away and should have given the boat more rests between runs. I will put the 1521 1D motor in also. I guess the lifting of sponsons is telling me to get the CG a little more forward also.

Paddy... it's getting there mate!!!
Good job... as for the ESC, we all knew it was not strong enough to SAW away,
specially with the 1D which is to come.
One question, since you are running 4s were you disabling the "red cable"?:::::::::::::::. It's NEVER fast enough! .:::::::::::::::Comment

I guess you mean the red wire for the BEC. Yes I pulled it out of the plug. I run a separate battery pack for the radio receiver. I have to agree with you about the esc. Both motors are Amp eaters but the 1D is a glutton when it comes to eating amps. Oh well it was worth a try.
I still feel happy as every time I lift the strut, more speed is coming and that M545 is not really a prop for a rigger and is quite small compared to the V947/3 that will be used a little later. When I do the mathematics between the two motors and look at the speed I am getting I can see some big numbers will come on the gps with the 1521 1D and the V947/3 on the boat.
I will still slowly work at getting the 100 mph that I am after as I am working in the dark when it comes to CG and strut depth. I do not want a blow over if I can avoid it and if you watch the last video carefully you can see that almost happened this morning.

Get back to work. LOL.
You are a legend in your own lunch box mate.

I don't like to be the barer of bad news, but it'sd unavoidable to get blowovers... after you set it up for certain condition perfectly here comes a gust of wind and "zzzzziiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnng" there she goes...
or sometimes it's a fish, turtle, twig, etc. It's part of the game, the faster she goes the more she blows... over that is.
But I know also that good setups reduce blowovers to a minimum.:::::::::::::::. It's NEVER fast enough! .:::::::::::::::Comment

It was not long ago that Mr. Krabs looked like this.....
This was caused because one sponson came loose and broke the small diameter carbon fiber boom as one end slipped off one of the booms. I wanted to make it so this would never happen again. The picture below shows you what I used....
The red wall plugs were coated with epoxy and the inside of the booms were painted with epoxy on a small brush. The wall plugs were pushed into the carbon fiber booms until they were flush with the end of the booms. I was careful that no epoxy entered the inside of the wall plug as I want to be able to undo the screws if I have to. I let the epoxy dry for a day and then put the booms and sponsons back on to the hull. The screws had washers big enough to cover the end of the booms put on them and then screwed up tight. I had to carefully hold the booms with Multigrips as I screwed the screws up tight. I was surprised how well the epoxy held the wall plugs in the booms.Several boats in various stages of destructionComment
