Now I find out where the crazy people really hide out.

#1. Paddy, Nice build! That should go like stink when you get it dialed in. 180kph is very doable with that motor on 4S. Two things: First, you may find you need a bigger esc (I'm running a hydra 360 the castle guys built for me). Second, harden the props (the 1521/1d can fold the blades on a V947 in the first hop).

    #2. Randy,
Get the pump fixed man!!! I'd rather have you miss LA once than permanently. Still, it won't be the same if you aren't there.

    #3. Andy,
Whiplashs don't like going 100mph, trust me on this. I've broken mine every time it gets close, destroyed it right after it got past 100. Little bits of wood all over the lake. The sponsons take a pretty major rework to go much over 65mph

There is a SAW's comming up next month but I may be in the hosipitle then just wait ing for the date. Sunday I am going to Fremont to test with Willmer. My P hydro had some bugs in it hope they are fixed.

I am taking care of my self, thanks for beeing consern and so understanding. I have so much I want to do.
Watch the BBY board for the shovel it is cool. I have some pictures and will start a thread on it.
Sometimes getting out with friends and doing things we like is the best medicine of all Randy.

No problem with the understanding and concern. Our hobby is nothing without friendships.

I have been watching that Scat Cat 32 build you have been doing. That boat should fly with that setup you are using in it. I like the Oberto paint job you put on it.
That Oval Master 29 looks great in the Patriot colors. Did you get any reports on it's speed? I want to build a fast mono one day. I seen a video of a mono Mark Ferreira built and it flys.

Brian I know who you are and what you have done in the model boat world and I am honored that you have posted on this thread. When people like you speak, I listen.
Thanks for the suggestion with the esc and the prop. I have a YGE Navy 200 and it is built like the big Schulze (see the picture below) Do you think that would do the job? I would have to do a little cutting and shutting to fit it in but it is doable.

I have to agree with you about Randy's heart.

Andy's boat will never do 100mph Brian. Andy drives with his controller in one hand and a glass of whisky in the other. Once his boat goes over 75mph he starts to shake with excitement and whisky goes everywhere so he slows down so as not to waste a good drink. At least his priorities are right.

Yes Paddy you have it right, anyway at 75mph and 10 whiskies it feels like 110 mph. Soooo I know what it feels like to do 110mph!!! Do you. More scotch please it is nearly home time.

Have one for the road Andy, no have two. Remember when you see three roads just drive on the middle one as the other two are not really there.
Do not do this at home kiddies as Andy is an expert

Brian I have no intention of going 100mph with my Whiplash, 60-65mph in oval trim will be more than enough for me. Paddy is my mate with the 100mph dream and I personaly think he will soon be aiming higher again. His goal is only going to rise as he gets to each one and I am proud to be able to help him in anyway i can. Brian it is nice to see CC will build a esc for you, have they organised special wind Nue motors as well?

                      Paddy,
My biggest contribution the RC world is continued supply charcoal briquettes that were temporarily disguised as speed controls (this extends back 15 years at this point). When you compare my experience with the some of the guys I hang out with, I'm a rank beginner. I owe a lot to Mark and Chris Grim, and a brutal willingness to burn stuff up.

That YGE looks great. How well does it get along with the 1D and .5Y Neus? If you can fit it in the boat, run it! ESC overkill in a good thing.

                      Andy,
If you ever do decide to push it with that whiplash, let me know. I'll send you some picks of the sponson mods that make it pretty stable at speed.

I'm not running any special wind Neus. For P hydro/Sport I'm running either a 1521/1D or .5Y, nothing special.

Brian if we just use tried and tested setups what do we learn? I like a guy that pushes things a little further just to see what will happen. Sure, not everyone can afford to do that but pushing the envelope is what makes manufactures make better motors, batteries and esc's. Man has never stood still otherwise we would still be hitting women over the head with a club and dragging them back to our caves. Now we just drag our boats back to our sheds and get a divorce (a much more civilized practice).

I have only ever run the YGE with the 1521 1.5D on 8s so I will have some experimenting to do before I go cutting and shutting the Mr. Krabs hull.

Keep on pushing the limits Brian. There is nothing like removing the hatch cover and looking at that little bit of toasted controller. It makes my wallet do a somersault every time.

Andy the first two pictures are for you to show you what I did with your Neu stickers. Once again thanks for those.

The next one shows what happened when I tested the boat this morning.

As you can see one of the carbon fiber booms is broken. There is no damage to the sponson or turn fin, so I guess what happened is the retainers that spread the boom against the tube that runs through the sponson have come loose. This would allow the sponson to start sliding off the boom and break in a tight turn. I know in the Xzess 2 many people glue the sponsons to the boom and I might have to do this. Another way is to drill small holes and use split pins to hold the sponsons in place.

Next picture shows the good news. As you can see 106 kph (chasing 54 kph now). The setup this morning was Neu 1521 1.5 D, 4S lipo and Chucks Octura M545 prop. Not really a rigger prop but as I have said before I am slowly working my way up in prop size.

And before everyone starts moaning there are 2 videos to upload to You Tube when I have time
