I have been second guessing it myself . I'm a skeptic because if this thing goes south I don't want to re do it.image.jpg"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex... It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction."

I think just to make things simple on this boat I will just forget about thrusting at the transom and make it a motor thruster . I just don't see any sense in going against the grain anymore. She is going to get a nice little oil can right here.image.jpg

Looking great, any reason you decided not to use the aeromarine unit? Just thought it might have saved some of the oil flinging mess. I'm guessing you just went with what works on other builds you've done. Placing the thrust washers at the strut is a good idea imo. If you new approximately how much the cable wound up you could have the thrust washers engage just before it goes fully wound. As long as the thrust washers are OK for use submerged in water it really makes sense to do it there. I'm not convinced yet that there a necessity on our boats and see them potentially causing more problems than they help. I'm basing this off use in other applications than rc boats. I think using good sealed bearings in the motor and relubing/replacing as required is the easier way to go. Many ways to skin a cat though:-)! Keep up the excellent work.Comment

Fella from my personal experience I have found that the cable doesn't wind up much but not to say it doesn't :) What I like about the thrust washers with the oiler system is the washers get oiled too. This is my setup on my T29 running .150 cable CC1515 , 4s WFO for 4 minutes . Cable is in good shape and I only use grease with a liner. The grease is gone after 4 minutes so that tells me the cable windings push it all out threw the strut bushing. The way the flex windings wrap they push oil down the stuffing tube out the strut . The washers always came back slick and in good shape.image.jpg"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex...
