      Well, I couldn't help myself.
I robbed a couple of motors & ESC'c out of my EA cat, & a motor & ESC out of one of my hydros, & set the thing up with 3 x SSS 4074 2200kv motors & 3 x SK 120A ESC's Last night.
I also stole a Y harness for the Rx out of one of my C.H.A.R.C. & added another plug for the third ESC.
Added the water outlets & some plumbing, some bits of velcro for the ESC's & batteries and she's now ready for sea trials.
She doesn't look pretty, but I just want to see if it works before I tart the thing up with paint & graphics. A bit of tidying to do in the engine bay too.
So it's off to the lake today with a heart full of joy & great expectations.
Hopefully I will return home with the same sort of demeanour.

Here's a couple of pics of the layout. (Note to self...remember to take the camera to the lake).

          You got that right man.
The video just finished down loading so here it is.
I only tested it at our small lake yesterday so I couldn't really hold it flat out for very long. But today we are going up to the Sippy Downs Regatta where there is a bit more room.
The first run had the nose running a bit high but she cornered too well & I had to back the rudder throw down a bit. But I still couldn't bring myself to try cornering at full noise in such a small space.
So for the second run, which is the video, I lowered the struts a smidge, to about 1 degree negative. That lowered the nose a bit, but I still didn't try full speed corners.
But one of the ESC's went off song after a few laps. The same thing happened each time I ran it. Even though all LVC's are switched off.
I was using the BEC in the centre ESC, so today I'll use a remote Rx pack to see if that stops it.
All the settings in the ESC's are the same
However there was one strange thing. The centre motor took 15-20 percent more out of the packs each time. I think it is because the inverted V in the centre sponson allows the water to hump up behind the boat a bit higher than the outside sponsons, so the prop is effectively lower in the water than the other props. I'll level the strut a bit today to raise the prop & see what that does.
          Anyway it was great fun.
Here's the video of the second run.

I posted just a little too soon, now the cool factor has broken the chart! When you get this thing dialed in, it's gonna be nuts!

                  Thanks guys.
Yep, a bit more tweaking & she'll be better. Hell the props are just straight out of the bag & bolted on. They are CNC props. but they still need dressing up a bit & the leading edges tickled up a bit with a file.
But I also need some thicker rudder linkages. The ones I had lying around are a bit too thin & they flex too much. I'll have to change the geometry a bit too. I did rush it a bit. But at least now I know what needs to be done & I can strip it all down & paint it.
                  Cheers.

Paul, that looks great! I was planning on coming down to the lake yesterday and didn't manage out - now I'm bummed that I missed it! Look forward to a video from today.

Well unfortunately Scotty, although we got some good videos I somehow managed to wipe them from the card before I downloaded them. Damned if I know how.
But she ran well on a bigger track. And all batteries were within 5% of each other after raising the centre strut a smidge, & sharpening the props a bit.
Five laps on a track nearly as big as lakeside & only used 25% out of each pack. And everything was only just tepid. In fact, the inside motor was the coolest. Actually 'cool' to the touch.
I'll run it again at Lakeside Raceway next weekend & get some more video then.

                          Cheers.

Well darn Paul, I was wanting to see it on a bigger track running hard. I bet it was flyin, I guess putting the Rx pack in and disabling the BEC cured the ESC dropping out problem?

She was flying well. But no, the RX pack didn't solve the problem. One of them still keeps slowing down after about three or 4 laps. I've got a dodgy ESC. Unfortunately I don't have another one to systematically try to find out which one it is. The settings are the same in all three & checked after it happens. LVC is disabled in them all. Throttle ranges have been reset after it happens. I'll sort it out next weekend. I'll put some of my trusty old Himodel 200A ESC's in it.

                                Thanks DJ.
It's a fine line between genius & idiot. I generally tend to lean more towards the latter.
