if you are looking to remove the box without risking damage, get a dremel with a cut off wheel and go to town. Once you get it out of there, you can sand down the remains of the box with a sanding disc on the dremel

Chris with the power of todays motors and batteries, you can use one motor and cut down of a bunch of work.

For starters adding ore power will not fix porpiseing. I am not sure of what hull you re working on but every hull has it limits and issues, some are better han others. If you are looking for a fast well handleing boat I would suggest getting a fresh proven hull OSE has a nice line of hulls and nicely priced...

Ok now on to your build.. first off that hull was vacuformed meaning the plastic was "heated" then formed. Ok the heat issue, Cutting and sanding with power tools will cause heat, this heat can warm the hull, nope ya cant fix that it will just get worse... But useing a dremel to carefully cut out the pcs do not try and force it there is a good chance of cracking...
Useing a dremel for sanding is where you will run into the heat problem , most dremels run at a hi rpm to be effective , this hi rpm is what will cause the plasic to melt.....

Ok so here we are again this is alot of work and will not fix the handling issue.
You will just have a faster boat with bad handling. The odds are there is room for adjustment in the set up of the boat... Center of gravity is the best place to start, then there is trimming of the strut/singer.
Plastic has a shelf life the older it gets and if exposed to sunlight for extending times it will get brittle. You may not find this out till you add the hi power motor and hit the throttle and the hull starts cracking.

I am not trying to be a downer here but I am trying o save you alot of work that most likely you will not be happy with...
If you are new to the f/e world I would highly suggest investing in a good fiber glass hull to start your build with. You will have far better results with alot less head aches. I almost quit F/E boating by trying to go at things the cheap way. Once you get your feet wet a bit then I would reapraoch rebuilding this hull.

Best of luck Im on here most everyday and will offer my assistance.

BTW I have been in he plastics industry for about 18 yrs Take my word for it go f/g....

Oh be very carefull if you decide to try and use a dremel saw they can be wicked dangerous and when the jump the move faster than you

Yeppers no stiches tho.... I was useing a 1/5 hp dremel drive motor with flex the saw was a 60 tooth(I think) saw spinning bout 20 thou when it grabbed and jumped . I was holding the handle with that hand, happened so fast it did even bleed right away...... the blade was 1.25 in dia, it could have done worse.
It happened Dec 23 07 and it is fully healed now but there is still a nice scar...

When guys mention cut off tools and dremel I feel obligated to post a warning.

Even the fiber cut off wheels will do the same damage. Or worse they can split and shatter going all over the room at mach 5 Wear safty glasses

And most of all guys this is a hobby be SAFE it is not worth looseing a part of you that you were born with and would like to keep

There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

The silicone around the hatch, well its got to go if you ever plan on tapeing the hatch(recomended). I mean scape it till you get to the raw plastic, if you dont the tape will never stick. That will be the first of you problems, water and electrons do not mix and will cost ya $$$$
