Managed to get a bit more done in between building other boats for both myself & other club members.
She's got a couple of coats of red paint now & the cowling has been cut & fitted. Just the cockpit sides to add & then all that will be painted too.

It's first run after being restored. Checkout the tiny turn fin when they lift it off the trailer. There's other great photos & videos of it on there too. Especially the first test running of a restored Allison V12 in the boat for the first time since the 50's

He! He! Yep. History does seem more interesting than it did in school.
I really enjoy finding out about the boats that I build models of.

Got the sides of the cockpit fitted.
Also did a bit of painting & assembling of the dummy motor yesterday.
Here it is sitting in place. Not glued in yet. And the inlet manifolds are just sitting there. Still working on the exhausts.

Not being happy with the looks of the exhaust manifolds, I cut & slotted some tube & glued it on over the original ply manifold to more closely resemble the real thing.The riser stacks should have another bend in them but that seemed too hard for me.

Thanks, but all you have to do is practice.
It all comes from scratch building scale boats. Guns are always fun.

Well the motor is finished. I need to do another coat of red on the hatch & then black out the engine bay before I can glue the motor in permanently. I'll add a few water pipes & fuel lines etc later.
The cowling has been cut to fit around the exhaust pipes.

Paul, nicely done. Its actually a shame you have to cover it up with an engine cowling for the scale look. I have to admit that I have a real passiion for the ol skool thunderboats. I currently have 3 in my fleet and I'm sure there will be more, just got to find more dock space .... DJ

But when it runs, it will be without the cowling. Just like the real one.
I've run out of dock space too so I'm selling off a few boats after the racing finishes in a couple of months.

Although it's not true scale, because the kit is a GP hull not an unlimited hull, it looks close enough.
As long as it looks good out on the water. That's the main thing.
