Pete, what is the empty space in the nose for? You have an access hole through a bulkhead to get to it???? Nice paint, wish I had those skills or contacts...Nortavlag Bulc

That's smart to put the boot inside. I always struggle with having enough room back there when it's on the outside.
John - Thanks! I can't wait to get the 'TEAM GREEN/KOOL Cigarette' decals on (Commemorating the Dario Franchitti retirement).
The next boat will have NINERS decals on it for Darin. His favorite team I think.Comment

Ray - That hole is for my batt wires to feed through...then, up and over, to the ESC. Paint skills??? Are you talking to me? hehehe. My paint job was horrible! It was the sanding and the expensive paint that saved me. After more sanding, I'm starting to see more primer here and there. It's going to need another coat.I hate painting.
Thanks Rum! I had no idea that Blazer was down. Just went to the website. Too bad, there's probably a lot of people that want to build before summer.Comment

I know your pain.... I have boat paint gobs that go great the poof! It goes the wrong direction I have a Scale Colin Archer that was going to be a simple three color job. I have put in 15 + hours tons of materials all for $200. Will it ever be done and OK?Comment

Thanks, I try hard, Building a SS-30 with full Red Metaflake paint job for a friend of mine the pictures do not do it justice Unlike the sun shine. It is a little heavy like yours was but they run like a raped ape.I am still in first place in the district in that class.

Finally got her all back together and out on the pond yesterday. As a starting point, I centered the prop shaft with the bottom of the sponson heels. Ran great, but my teflon started to spin in the stuffing tube. I'll have to take care of that before the race this Sunday. Still needs some graphics.Attached FilesComment

Found the root cause of the teflon spinning. This is hard to believe. Watch out for different wall thickness teflon tubing!!! The stuff I used for this boat was way too thick and ended up with too little clearance. Absolutely maddening.Attached FilesComment

Are you running 3/16" or 1/4" cable? I'm planning on using 1/4" in mine. I like 1/4" because it's works so nice and smooth in my 40" Q mono and I don't use any Teflon either. I used over sized K&S thick wall tubing and then soldered in some shims inside before the bend. I may not be able to pull that off in the hydro though because of the strut. My q mono is the quietest boat I have on bench or in water.Nortavlag Bulc

The tubing is 3/8" OD and 5/16" ID.
I used thin wall 5/16" OD 3/4" long pieces in the straight portion about every 3 inches and since it's a mono I created a wet well just by compressing the tubing into a verticle oval that had a leftover 1/4" ID width for the cable which gave me about 3/16" up and down adjustment for my stinger. Turned out pretty cool.
For my Whip 40, I'll need to step the thick wall down about an inch in front of the strut so the brass speedmaster bushing has something to bear into and so I can make strut adjustments. A 3 foot piece from the LHS cost me about $20.
