    So, whats new Pete?

Do you think a SF200 4-8S esc would do for me and my 1527 1Y clone by TP Power? What cells are you planning on using??

      Hello Shooter

Very Nice Build You got going on there.....

When ever I design a new radio box I use the AquaCraft boots with those 10mm Plastic collars.
I CNC into my box the OD of the plastic part and pocket down about .030"
Then I rough up the plastic and CA it into the pocket. It works perfect.

Also the Boots last a long time. very durable.

      Thanks
      Joe

Hey Ray. Not sure about that controller. The only experience I have with Q is using the Castle 240. I will be running a 1530, Castle 240, and the PULSE brand cells that I ran last year (helicopter guys use these).

Joe - Thanks for the photo. That's a nice clean set-up. Seems like everyone (myself included) mounts the 'flange side' to the boat/box. I originally thought the the flange was to provide a larger diameter for the seal to stretch over.

Oh...... forgot to mention. I really screwed the pooch on the first coat of epoxy on the outside. Not sure if it was due to a poor quality foam brush or just contamination. Mr. Ball set me straight on how to properly seal the boat. I had to sand the entire thing back down to the wood.

O.k. how many Mah cells do you use in this rig and what are the special details when applying a finish coat of epoxy?

I just have to put the bottom sponson ride pads on after some sanding and then skin it. Just got my Virginia Craftsman fins in the mail

SF200 should be enough. I fried one last race but believe it was my fault, didn't disable onboard BEC while using external supply. I normally run mine with T180. Most here run with less than 7000mah for heat racing.

Thank you but, maybe do you mean the 220 as it has BEC and the 200 4-8S is Opto?

It was 200amp 2-6s with BEC. Again, it wasn't the ESC's fault (this time) it was mine...

I run 10,000mah....but my boat wasn't very competitive last year.

As for the finishing tips I got from Mike: The major difference was letting the resin sit, and then scraping it off with old business cards.... or using a squeegee as Detox suggested.

Thanks Pete. Seems like 10,000 is a tad heavy but, your whip 40 will lift it easy. I wish I had planned ahead and made my inside stringers higher too!

10000 is heavy but sometimes it's a good thing and can still be competitive.. I was able to fit using 3s TP's, 3 on their sides and one laying flat on top. I initially started with a Castle 1717 and a cupped X447 and now run 1527 1Y with ABC 2116. Here's a video Jesse J filmed a few years back.
