    Pete's Whiplash 20 LSH

This one has been sitting for way too long.... finally got started tonight. I layed out the framing on a pc of MDF and the 'back side' of contact paper. This stuff is essentially wax paper with the extra benefit of gridlines! The grid lines will serve as a reference to avoid twists and ensure everything is straight.

Good plan with the paper. Never thought of it for squaring things.

Thanks, I think I'll get some as I was about to tack up a Whip 40.

Ray - I got mine at Walmart. I only used the back (wax paper) side.

So, why didn't anyone tell me about these little disposable eyedroppers? This is a huge help for applying kicker. No more spray bottle for me!

So, I got to this frame #9 and #13 ordeal. Looked like a good way for me to screw something up and add some unwanted twist into the frame. First I glued frame 9. Then, I cut a pc of scrap wood at the width of the sponson opening and clamped it into place to keep the opening the same width all the way up, then glued #13. Probably total over-kill.

This frame #12 thing is a bit tricky. I referenced Detox and Luck Duc. Looks like I did it correctly.

Everything seems to be straight. It sits flat and the stringers follow the grid lines nicely. The 3-2-1 block helped in the vertical axis. I finished adding the extra 1/8 spruce. I'm packing it in for tonight. Thankful that I only glued myself to the boat 3x today. Not bad.

Never thought to use the droppers for kicker; glue yes, kicker no. Cool.

Had some hobby time last night while watching the BIG TEN CHAMPION Spartans!!

I decided to go a different route at this point....similar to Detox, but I removed the center two stringers as well. I will probably end up using the UL-1 cowl, but I could also use the cowl that I formed for the PT stealth. The bottom is glued in place.

Removing all this support in the middle the structure considerably. I plan to glue in a carbon fiber hollow rod (see photo) above the batt packs....and possibly another cross support.

Advantage of removing the nose was to get more space for batts and electronics and make a nice flat taping hatch. There are several disadvantages I can think of. One of which involves getting the weight up front. A lot of folks run the batts way up in the nose. I may be handicapped here, but hopefully some lead in the sponsons will suffice.

I was comparing the hull to the PT. Very similar, but much lower profile.

I started skinning the sponsons. I thought it would be easier to get them close to trimmed before gluing. My sander makes easy work of this. I still left about 1/16 around the edges for final sanding.

Out of glue. Done for the day.

Will it meet the 25% rule with out the nose, mine did not.
