I worked on it some tonight. Got the flex shaft cut and fitted. Had to mill the motor mount a tad so the bigger 4mm screws would fit. Then I made my cooling jacket. That didn't go so well. The carbon fiber tube I got was a tad too big on the inside diameter. So I machined some thin spacer rings to be epoxied on the inside. That came out pretty nice but after sliding the sleeve on, I could not rotate it to line up the hose nipples. Hmmm. Just would not move nor come back off. I have to cut it off. Once I got it cut off I noticed that I nicked the fins all the way down the motor. Nice brand new motor with grind marks on it. I took it apart and chucked the can up in my lathe and skimmed the fins a few times times till the marks were gone. I figured while I was at it, I'd open up the gap on the end fins a tad so I could fit a thicker oring and now I don't have to make spacers. That worked out much better.

Heres the motor mount after milling it

Did you use oil to put the jacket on?

I used grease. The fit was too tight and the fins dug into the plastic spacers I made. This go round it'll be much better. Ill post pics when I get the sleeve on.

Looking really nice! So you fabricated that up yourself out of a piece of cf tube? What are the posts in front of the motor for?

Yes I made that and machined the motor can a little to make it all go together better. The posts are for the steering servo plate. Not really a fan of it.

Why don't you care for the servo plate? I build almost all my cats with them. I think they look a lot bettet than any other mount. Plus you get the additional carbon bling.

Nice work, I didnt know you had the lathe and mill available. If you dont like it, make it disappear and put something in that you do like. MHZ makes a nice looking servo mount, might be good for ideas. good call on the custom water jacket, thats the stuff I like!

I made the jacket out of carbon fiber so the diameter would be smaller. Easier to fit in the motor mount. Im thinking about ripping it all out and making my own mounts now. The mount that's in there is really too short for the motor and im having a hard time thinking up a rear support.

You could machine an aluminum ring up and add seperate mounting tabs for it. OR, I am all for ripping it all out and you doing a complete custom job on it. Make it a little more bulletproof to handle that big motor. You know its going to see some high speed unexpected flight sessions while you test the limits. So many options...
