    MHZ mystic 1380 - Motor/ Esc combo?

Hi, have ordered a MHZ Mystic 138 carbon/aramid, but i'm on a budget so in the first round i can't afford the lehner motors.

I'm considering some of the TP Power motors, either the 5660 (10kw) or the 5850 (12kw).
    The KV i'm thinking between 900 - 1200.

My goal is to make it go over 100mph, but also have the opertunity to prop down to get good runtime.

Were thinking to get the SF300aHV-plus with the datalogging to have some control over the amps when sizing up the props.
Got a little heads up form the guy who's running mbp-rc.de that the datalogging will result in 5% effect loss to the motors. Anyone who has any experience abort this? Found it a little bit stange that you can't get full power thru esc's w/datalogging.

Very grateful for tips regarding motors, kv and esc:-)

Sorry for some bad grammar, from Norway so has been a while since I've written english:-D

You seem to already have a good idea of what to run. I run the same boat with mbp drives, they're awesome. I recently bought 920kv tp 5850s to be run on 12s with 60mm props, she'll a bit over 100mph, I would say get the tp 5850 1000kv motors. Why ? I wanted to go 100mph max, if you get the 1000kv you'll get 100mph on 11s.

11s1p, tp 5850 1000kv, sf300s. I've heard really really good things about the sf300. Make sure every drive/rudder piece is on perfectly straight and 100mph is yours with ease. You can even run 12s to the 1000kv motors I'd love to see how fast it goes with that setup. A few of the guys on this forum run the mystic 138 its a great very nice looking boat thats built well and is easy to push.

Thanks for good advice! What esc's do you run on the 920's? About the drives and rudder it's my first time building a boat from scratch, but i'm a perfectionist so will masure everything 3 times before the holes for these components:-)

I promise to make some videos of the end result and the speed test when it's finished.

Also wondering if I shall make a building "blogg" showing step by step in the process.

I run the sf240 escs I think they'll be fine as I have run them on 12s numerous times with a 730kv motor. Definitely get us pics of everything I look forward to seeing this boat built up.

I actually haven't run the 920s yet they'll be here in a few days. I ran 730kv leopard 5692 12s and was getting mid 80s with x457 props. With 920s you have about 41,000 rpm unloaded. Some people run the leopard 5692 1090 motor and get speeds of 104 mph, pretty impressive for motors that can be had for 140 dollars each. I would like to run a 465 prop reduced to 57mm hopefully 105 mph will be achieved or more (wishful thinking).

Interesting! Can you tell me why people reduce props instead of buying the right size to begin with? The answer i came up with on my on were that you'll get more surface area on the prop since the blade would also be wider with the same pitch?

I have a 135 with lehners and mgm's and you cant beat the setup but that comes at a high peice. A set of tp 5850 something like 1100 kv on 10s with a x 457 will do you fine. Cheaper all the way around even a setup like mike recommend is awesome. I ran Leo 5692 1090kv on 10s and it was plenty.

Just wanted to say congrats with the new girlfriend. They are an awesome hull, and you have endless options as to how you can power it. As for a budget setup, I think Mike is spot on. That may just suit. As for the ultimate thrill and spending big $$ Steve is right on!! and after using several Lehners I have to agree with Steve. I just like em!

Will follow this thread for sure, if you take your time, measure twice, get everything straight chances are that you will have a really cool boat.
