well im not always the best driver so i think that would be the second "beaching," of a boat this summer lol, luckily it wasn't the 138 it was my mhz nomad. and yah that's lake ronkonkoma the water has been really good lately, i flipped the mystic at 60 today it barrel rolled about 4 times and stayed flipped for some time i bring a kayak now. like i said in the thread over the summer drunk people usually swam out for chris and myself hahaha.

Decided the 457s weren't cutting it, moving up to 465 props reduced and sharpened by Dasboata here on the forum, hopefully we'll see a 6-8mph speed increase. Then I can make the jump to 13s for 44,500 rpm unloaded and 60mm prop 1.6 pitch.
I think the boat will see a motor change as well this winter, the TP5840L should be more "high rpm friendly." couldn't be happier with the tp motors and I'll get some video of the boat this weekend I hope.Comment

Cool!! I'm in dry dock with the MADD Catt right now, I'll add to the build thread for an update. Starting to realize the cause and effect of high rpm. I too have been messing with the 465 props, cutting down. I might just have to bite the bullet and check some props from dasbota too.Comment

465 props cut to 60mm went very well I have learned the importance of pitch lol. Thing is this boat ran so nice on 12s with 457s I have run 13s today and had a really big blow over. With the cut down 465s also had a blow over. Hopefully this weekend I'll get some video of this thing on 13s with the big props that I had dasboata do for me. No idea on speed but 39,000 rpm loaded this morning with 457s and 12,000 watts. the 460s pulled 13,000 watts.Comment
-
My math says 95mph with 457s @ 39k RPM. I'm usually right, +/- 2mph.
Did you log RPM with the other props?Comment
-
yeah I try to pull numbers from the escs after each run and save em
12s-457-loaded rpm 36,400 11,000 watts
12s-660-loaded rpm 36,400 13,000 watts
13s- 457-loaded rpm 39,000 12,000 watts
can't give good numbers with temps, water temp is dropping rapidly in NY. a month ago I was still swimming yesterday getting my feet wet was rough launching the boat. The 465 red. de tongued 660s was visibly faster than 13s, pitch rules. boat below is a mystic with 1090 leos I believe 1.6 pitch 60mm props, 12s it LOOKED the same speed wise but then again I'm a bit biased. mbp drives do anchor the boat nicely.

13s is pretty heavy. packs are zippy 40c for now they've held up quite well. its a major PITA soldering packs, i broke down a 5s and soldered two 2s packs. They use some kind of aluminum solder, I was fortunate enough to have packs with giant globs of solder melted to the tabs so didn't have to pick up any special solder for the aluminum tabs. So its 5s/2s/6s/Comment

So been a few years since I've written anything in this thread but the mystic is still running strong. Motors were upgraded from TP to Lehner 3040/6 in wye, running 10-12s with 457 prop. Speeds have been quite good with this setup and Turnigy 40c packs. I'm not one to go 95+ regularly but its fun putting in 12s sometimes to see what she can do with a conservative prop.

The mystic spins 37k for 97 mph and 40k for the 106.2 run. I have had some fast runs this season but finally strapped the GPS. I have learned a boat this size is best suited for early morning runs, I would never run these speeds with people around and with summer being in the swing its tough to get the lake to myself.
Tipping the scale at almost 30 pounds and running speeds over 105 is something special, very quickly you learn how dangerous a setup like this can be. Unfortunately no one lives near me into fe now, I'll have to drag my dad with me for video lol. I will say though it runs great on 12s, no changes other than .5mm of added negative over the 11s runs. 13s will be ran through the system in the fall when the lake is less congested 115 is certainly possible. Thanks for looking !Comment

Badass man. This may be next winter's build for me, I'll have to comb through the thread when I have time.

Travis- TBH I prefer the q cat over all, 2nd s cat, and lastly t cat lol. I'm just happy this boat is still running strong after 3 seasons. The props sound just violent on 12s, guess they get loaded up pretty hard.
Kevin-Thanks bro, they're awesome I think the natural progression is to build a mystic in every size if possible lol (i only have a 138, and look at 84s/114s constantly). If starting with a new 138, I think there are some long drives out there for it and rudder to match....intimidating looking setup for sure lol.Comment

Mike, I feel like I know this boat better than some of mine lol. The thing is a beast, needs a name...
It's really awesome seeing one of these behemoths run in person, hard to describe, but it's also gut wrenching/terrifying to see one go airborne. Not sure if people can relate to the size and weight of these boats, especially running 100+, I don't see there being a bigger rush in this hobby. To get an idea, hold a 15lb bowling ball in each hand, that's the weight, and here's a pic for size, Mhz 84(33") Outerlimits(37" same as a Daytona/Genesis) and two 114's(45") the 138 is almost 10" larger than a 114.

^That is quite the fleet lined up lol. Thanks Shawn and yeah it definitely needs a name at some point + paint. Going to take awhile to get the hatch I ordered from Mhz quite a few layers of carbon/kevlar so I'll post pics when it comes in.
^Those 114s are going to be powerhouses with the setup we were talking about especially on 7s.
I don't think I am going to have time to build the Hpr 99 this summer unfortunately but this winter its game on. Went back to powering up the nomad for sport runs and trying to get the explorer to 100 (which I haven't). I think the setup goes Hpr 99, Lehner 2240 (2466kv), sf 300 v2., I'll have all winter and a foot of ice on the lake to contemplate my setup though haha.Comment
