I got rid of my bearing on my Geico strut.A good brass tube and Speedmaster bushing works like a charm.I used to run a steering setup much like this on my Graupner cat years ago.I'll be curious how the flex acts.

Bushings have always done fne.for me. And.is a good way to keep cost down as.well maintenence and.repairs. I always include a spare bushing with my.drives

Its been a.few yrs but yes I've made all.sorts of hardware for boats. This is my.first run with steerable but have done various struts and stingers. Even have some match sets done with rudder for cats but can make struts with it without rudders....ill pm with price....

Hey guys..not.much to.update on hull however been working in hardware for an upcoming.sale ...picked upnsome.epoxy today and may.laminate a.deckplate.. I have a sheet of.glass that's been epoxy layup that.didn't.work so.I made a.sheet of glass for future use. My.plan for the deckplate is a layer of.glass on bottom with a layer of.1/8 ply and.a.layer.of.c/f for.top. This should help with the twist that happens with this hull under hi torque situations..will deffinayely do.a.detailed.post there for out newer crowd. I plan on doing.some.surveys.in the near cuter to help guide me.in building hardware. Happy.boating and building for.those of.us with freezing lakes.. look.for.posting in for.sale.section you might find a Christmases.sale.....

Good to see these are still being built and enjoyed. They really are fun simple boats to build and man are they durable when built right.

Yes they are fun and thank you shocker for making it possible....I remember the twisting issues and may have gone a bit overboard with the stiffening but i dont plan on racing this hull so durability is a key factor.... My next step of project will be the inner center deck covering. I plan on layer a this sheet of f/g , a layer of light ply and a layer of c/f on top. As of now my plan is to sandwhich the ply between the glass and fiber. If anyone has a better plan or layering idea feel free to speek up lol... The glass sheet I am useing isnt much to speak of tho when laminated should add alot of strength to the combination of c/f and ply....I hopefully will get to that layup tmo...As of now tho I need to move over to the for sale section to start my listing....happy building !!!

Hey boaters been busy, holiday shopping ect.. Well I pixies down the inner section of the hull. I have laid out my plan for doing a c/f wrap around the inner tunnel.section..my plan is to do the c/f layup in two parts, the flat center area first almost to the edges, then after that sets then continue the wrap down around the tunnel. My goal here is to make this easy and controllable. Last think I want.is.to have a layup issue right before the poxy sets up. So in short the slow and easy method. I have pics to post and.more to take of the process so.stay tuned.
This lay up may not be needed as.I have built up and.braced hull quite well.however the PC.I have firs perfect it will improve and simply because it flippen looks cool. Happy building.

Ok so here we go I did this about a week ago.just havent found time to get online sorry....In this step I filled the tunnel deck section with good ole fashioned pink building foam. This adds to the build in two ways 1 being it adds flotation and 2 when sandwhiched like this adds incredible strenght. I used my ole fav z poxy to do my builds. Its cheap and effective. I laid a thin layer of poxy down in tunnel then fit the precut foam into the spaces, I left the foam a squeak tall so I could have some left to sand of and true up the deck.

Once all this set up I laid up the upper deck ply I use clamps and prefitted 3/4 plywoud to use a flat true surfaces to compress the whole section as one..check for square and true let cure.....Next is the carbon fiber lay up...

Welcome back to todays part of the build...Today I laid up the carbon fiber tunnel wrap. To start with I sprayed the area I planned on laying c/f with 3M spray 77 contact cement. I have used this method before with great result. And learned this from an ole rummrunner builder... Anyways back to laying the c/f I got my mental plan in go mode and layed the cloth down straight as i could I had enough left over to not worry alot. Once I got the deck are layed I wrapped the leftover cloth down the sides of the tunnel letting it hang off the bottom edge for easy trimming later...As I wrapped around the tunnel I made smallest cuts I could to allow for ribs and a good lay of the cloth. Once I got the cloth layed and stuck ther way I wanted it I prepped the poxy....When I open the epoxy I realised something was different... hmmmm...Both part were clear ok cool beans there the other stuff had a brown tint to one part..??? Ok so I mix up 2 oz of the poxy and it seemed thicker also which made me concerned ot may not soak thru the cloth...Once I started working with it it was ok but could have been a bit thinnner by my choice...In short I ended up with more epoxy than planned as was too thick to do a soak up of excess poxy...All in all I am satisfied with my efforts all went pretty much as planned....Here are the pics enjoy.....Lonewolf

Weel it has been a while since last post. Now that I completed a set of drives for the hull, it was time to look into steering linkage. My original plan for a linkage standoff was kind of low for my needs...In result I made a new stand-off that is of a better height. Part of this challenge was dealing with the allowable angles of rod ends . so in short I broke down the angle in a gradule way. The pivot block pictured hgere is my second attemp. Once I got the angle more equally devided the linkage is remarkable smooth... This whole prototype linkage is done on a mock up of the original hull. With this being done I can drill or move things as needed without doing damage to main hull. This way all the lil problems can be worked out prior to install... My nest step will be to machine the pivot block and pivot arms out of alum. Then lighten for weightsaving...Will work in the scale looks part as I go...I do have a few ideas to share when I get the to waterproofing part of this project.
