Cowl has paint on it now, that's the first step in painting of the hull!! The color is Dodge Sublime Green "high impact paint" from the early 70's. I hope to have the hull in primer this weekend, we'll see!

Not really an update on the build, cuz i haven't done much to the boat, but i did get ambitious tonight and built a display/carry stand for the Daytona. Nothing to complicated here lol, just decent lumber, i beveled the edges of the vertical runners to match the bottom of the hull. Is it overkill? Well yeah it is lol, but once it's stained and has some logos on it it'll look nice sitting on my fireplace mantle (i'm single LOL). I plan to add some removable side posts for traveling with the boat.

I agree with hydro! Get building! Have you got the stuffing tube and mounts done yet?

No, haven't epoxied in the mount yet, i have it all marked out for the exact location of the mount and also a rough location for the stuffing tube tho. I'll worry about the stuffing tube after i get it painted, which the hull is now ready for primer, that i finished last night. I'd be in a little more of a rush if spring was right around the corner, as of now i got a while to go before i'll get to the lake or pond!! Been busy with a re-modeling project lately, that's kept me from working on the boat to much lol.

Ok, made some decent progress the last couple days. I finished drilling all the holes (cooling inlet/outlet, steering rod) and did one last final sand on the hull, then on went a couple coats of primer/filler. I sanded it out then did several coats of white base, just so the the lime green covers easier. Also, epoxied the motor mount in too, but it has me a bit worried. All the pics and references i've looked at, nobody's motor seems to sit as high, and most seem to have a bit more angle. I did mock up after mock up with the motor tightly screwed in, and as you can see in the pics that's the best i could get. I tried turning the motor mount around, had less angle and wanted to sit higher yet. Maybe it's because it's a"fatter" motor, 4074 Leopard. If i got the motor any lower i don't think the cooling jacket will clear the bottom. The motor mount location is spot on the dimensions tiqueman gave me from a stock Genesis, but the stuffing tube hole will be a bit further away. I think i'm in good shape, once i get the stuffing tube hole roughed in i'll be shooting some green all over the hull, then laying out some graphics!!

Trim the motor mount rails a bit to lower the motor. Its a bit late now, but its an option. Good luck with your build.

The front mount seems to be set high, mine is on the middle setting and with a 4082 and jacket on I get plenty of clearance because of the v shaped tunnel so you should be fine if you want to lower te front to get more angle

If its the fightercat mount, that could be why you aren't getting the correct height and angle. His manufacturer was supposed to cut the rails the same as the stock genesis but they didn't. I did a little write up on it on his website as well as he changed the description of the mount. Don't know if thatsx the case, but it could be. I had the same issue when building gimps boat and reversed and modded the rails and got them to work.

Hope to start my twin soon. Motors will be forward with 078 wire drives and 5S each side. I have some 40mm leopards but rethinking those to a 36mm leopard to keep size down... 442s and high rpm. I love the scream of high rpms on twins.

It's not the FighterCat mount, this one is the 4074/82 mount from right here at OSE. I have the shaft end of the mount in the bottom hole setting, if i used the middle holes the motor was to low and hitting the bottom of the boat. I have a some room to play with, i think i'll use the dremel and slot the front holes on the rails a little bit. After all the Christmas festives are done today i'll be working on it!!

Ok, put the water jacket on the motor and bolted it up to the mount, the fit is pefect!! The back (transom/shaft) end just barely clears the bottom of the boat, so it can't go any lower. I have the front motor mount "ring" support set as high as possible for maximum angle, at actually looks pretty good. So i measured and cut out the the stuffing tube hole, missed the angle just a little but not to bad. The alignment is right on, but the angle is slightly down. Really the hole needed to go maybe an 1/8" farther back. A little added work but i've already started epoxying the hole to "move" it back a little. That's on tomorrow's agenda, paint is gonna wait a bit longer but i'm not really in any rush, i want to do this right!

The Green Machine is starting to take shape!! I got the stuffing tube formed and made, everything turned out well in that department! Angle is good, and the alignment is dead on!! Had to slightly "S" curve the tube but form what i've learned that's just fine. So, now she's getting some color layed down!
