Very nice! What wheel did you use on your dremel to get this finish?

I started with the hard spongey round wheel to brush the surface, then rubbed more with some 400grit paper. then back to a light sponge wheel for another ultra light brush. After this I used the wadding wheels (the hard cloth wheel) to give it it's first shine, then I used the soft floppy wheel for another long polish and finally finished off with autosol on my finger to polish and buffed in a micro fiber cloth. It did the job, after posting these pic's of my polish work I then read manuels thread on his twin turbine full of alloy and carbon that he's made himself, that soon had me finding far too many imperfections in my work so I fixed it all by turning off my computer, lol.Comment

My quest to promote FE here in OZ has worked, I have finished the boat up til the piont where I need to only do a few touch ups and apply a few more coats of polish. I took it down to show Bernie (players dad) and he's invited me to his place at on Monday to meet the coach(James Hird, my childhood idol) and a few of the player who, I think will be there doing a "meet the parent" interveiw or something. I think he must have been impressed cause he also wants the boat to be set up in his lounge room, cool. I suppose it's still a bit of a dream until I've shaken James's hand, thanked him for all his done and continues to do for the club and handed him the white pen but it's sure close. I have decided I will give the boat to the football club managers and tell them to auction it on the footy show on national tv and the money raised will go to the Royal Childrens Hospital, the joy for me will now be seeing how much we can get for it, I recon I'll feel pretty damn good if we can get somewhere in the 10k-15k range for my toy. Hundreds of hours work and a few dollars have put me in the position to meet the team and my favorite footballer of all time, it dosn't get any better than that, Priceless.
I'll post a few of my pic's soon but I'm hoping the journo's will get a few pro pic's for me to share with you guy's.Comment

Millzee, that's awesome! Hird is a legend (I might be from Brisbane, but I'm a Bombers fan), so you must be pumped to be meeting him! Keep us up to date with photos and if the auction happens. Nice job on the boat and the interview.Comment

That is sounding so awesome Millzee. What a honour for you.My quest to promote FE here in OZ has worked, I have finished the boat up til the piont where I need to only do a few touch ups and apply a few more coats of polish. I took it down to show Bernie (leading goal kickers dad) and he's invited me to his place at 11.30am on Monday to meet the coach(James Hird, my childhood idol) and a few of the player who'll be there doing a "meet the parent" interveiw. I think he must have been impressed cause he also wants the boat first thing Monday morning to be set up in his lounge room so when the camera crews get there he can point it out and try including it in the shot. I suppose it's still a bit of a dream until I've shaken James's hand and handed him the white pen but it's sure close. Here's a video I put together rather than make this thread a 10 pager full of pic's, these pic's and video have been taken before the final touch ups and detailing are complete, that's being done tonight and then again in the morning before I take it around. I hope you guy's like it and can I say thanks to all this forum and you guy's on it that help me obtain the knowldge to build these cool toy's, it brings me joy.

Well I could die right now and be happy, my "brain fart" project is almost complete, all thats left now is to do is promote it and try to get top dollar for the kids. I never would have thought this hobby would have lead me to meet some of the guy's I watched and loved as a teenager, today I meet bomber Thompson and James Hird, spoke to big Fletch and got to chat with stars of the game, at this moment right now I'm a very happy man.
Giving this thing away to charity is going to be a little more complicated than I thought though but I'm sure it'll raise a good chunk of coin.
I have tons of pic's but these are the ones that matter the most (to me)

I've spent what feels like all day on the phone promoting the fundraising auction of this boat and I'm waiting on a few call backs and emails but so far it's got a spot on national tv as one of 20 selected items that they auction on tv during the live broadcast of the Good Friday Appeal thats held each year here in Oz to raise money for the Royal Childrens Hostpital if need be. I waiting to speak with a marketing director for the footy show on Thursday to see what they can come up with, I'll try to work out which way will make money for the charity and go with that, either way, it's going to the same place.
I hope no-one reads my posts and thinks I'm trying to big note or anything, all this is blowing me away a little. I'm not looking for praise, I really don't want anything out of this except the satisfaction of being able think to myself that I helped ensure my future grandchildren will have the best care if god forbid they ever needed it., I just get a little excited. this guy on rc tech left me a post thats left me scratching my head.Last edited by millzee; 02-07-2012, 03:27 AM.Comment
