Sorry to hear that , Shawn. If you do try to recover it, I wish you luck.

I have said on the FC forum that everytime I took it out I was prepared to lose it.And that is true,but...Kinda expected a vid and explosion or flight or something. AND,geez I was kinda attached to it.We've been through alot.

And thanks to you as well J. On another note, one of the guys brought a new R-42 so I got to size it up for twin 1717 duty.

I'll be in touch with Andy soon.

Sorry Shawn, over the years I have been on both sides of this story. I dive and had to look for and retrieve both my boats and several friends. Like your pond we raced in an old burrow pit. 45 feet deep and broken logs and debree ate one of the boats that we never found. The bottom of those ponds are pretty dark and even with a spot light a dark colored boat is hard to find. Pretty much the reason I try to stay with bright yellow and white hulls. Good luck on the attempt.

Sorry man! I hope you can recover it somehow?

Time to get something in the 50" mark, and full of foam :)

Thanks Kent,I'm going to do the R-42 so I can rip around with the gas guys and yes really full of foam.
I had the Shocker packed with foam that is used to insulate plumbing pipes. Now I'll have to compare it to noodle and see if it is different.

I didn't really worry about this in the pond that was only a few feet deep but this is a new place for me. New part of the build: FLOATATION TEST

I feel ur pain bro , get a diver , pay them and fish out the boat. I really hate to say this but you invested too much time and $ in it, it will be a waste if you don't even attempt.

My 36" Maritimo twin .. the 6S 88mph jobby .. once swan dived and didnt return.
Lake was 6' deep... rescuers were just out of toe reach keeping heads above the duck turd flavored water ..
4 hrs later it surfaced like a breaching whale... nose to 1/2 the hull smeared in primeval stinky ooze .....
The 'backup boat' I was then controlling by same Tx was unimpressed as I drove the cat gently to shore.. amid the applause of the watching disbelievers...
Keep an eye on the lake where you lost yours.. ya never know what may bob up..

The plumbing pipe insulation stuff.. looks like you're the first to learn it's weaknesses . Lesson learned, thanks !

Pool noodles or lots big bubble bubble wrap ( KEEP IT OUT THE SUNLIGHT AND IT'S GOOD FOR A COUPLE YEARS .. fits anywhere )
Ive the 2 part epoxy inflatable foam here.. mix and pour.. and hope you didnt mix too much... great to fill all the caivities and odd sized areas..but needs to be sealed else it will absorb moisture and eventually gain weight.

                      Best of luck with Titanic2

Well due to the overwhelming support from you guys and my grieving periods phases I am going to launch an assault on the lake. My diver wants me to measure visibility and depth(this may be the issue. He doesn't feel like groping around in the dark). He is busy this next weekend so I will go to the lake and check it out. We have an old 16ft boat hull to paddle around at the lake.I also have a couple of the local R/C buds that match you guys' concern and want to help.

So any of you guys have Sonar FishFinder experience? My buddy years back had a portable one and it showed amazing things in a lake, even the bottom.Just wondering if one of these may show a dead signal CF hull on the bottom.

fish finder sonar is a brilliant bit of kit.
CF shell is a massive black blob on screen
May still need the scuba .. hull's probably full of water and weighs 30+lb !

realistically: by now motors, esc, packs, servo and Rx are rooted ( Id never trust them again even if polished up ok )
                          B(

That still leaves me $600+ in good hardware so I figure it's worth it and I have time for that stuff(some).Heck my 4518 Propshop props are down there.

Well I'm in the same sunk boat, 8s 2p carbon fiber rigger with Nue 1530 1y and FC 16/400.
Our pond is only 5 to 8 feet deep with enough bluing in it to cut visibility to 1 foot.
Here is what we have tried so far,
Dragged the the whole back straight with a landscapers rake for 9 hours, you don't have that option.
Bought a cheap fish finder, not enough bottom detail, the cone at 5' is very small at 50' it would be much bigger and may work except for the logs?
Bought a cheap metal detector, picks up aluminum only at 9" away including battery's, extended the shaft and wire to 8' after 1/2 hour it went nuts. Water probably got to my lower splice. It says it is water proof.
The only option I see is left is a handheld Portable Magnetometer which can pick up a 3" "cow" magnet at 10 to 20 feet, what ever that is.
This can be rented from a place in Texas for surveyors for $10.00 day plus $55.00 set up charge. Do you know any surveyors that have one?
Hope this can help you narrow your choices!!

A cow magnet is something they make a cow ingest to get bad crap(iron) out of it and is 2 1/2 -3" long and 1/2" thick. That may be a viable option if it is not too deep. It may pick up the rotor.
