ET optical rpm sensor loses accuracy +20k rpm... was designed for hydrocarbon junkies ( other forums )
Use the brushless sensor..~$15USD .. good upwards of 50k resolution . simply plug the 2 input wires to any of the 3 motor wires, and it's a far cleaner data capture.

The best sensor to use is the magnetic pickup kind. I was told this by eagle tree themselves. He stated that it's the most accurate one for high current and rpm applications. They said that the Brussels sensor can be way of in high current systems

Glad that I posted my intentions, good feedback guys.I thought I was going to use a optic one that I have here from my Speky but it doesn't seem to work.

Do you think the magnets will stay on my flex coupler Chris?

Doc,I was after the larger inlet relief's of the gasser rudder.Thought it would be a simple bolt on, but...then drilling the other hole is how I tucked my rudder which has made me OHH SO happy.

Well took it out this morning and got 75mph with the 5018's on 6s.I had to rush my run a bit as there was a ski jump comp to start.I messed up last night when I greased the shafts and installed them in a pointed inwards direction. So this may have changed things a bit.It definitely affected my turning capabilities. If you want the boat to spin out this is the way to go.
Back to the data,CG was at 11 1/4" from the transom, peak amps were 157,top speed 75mph.So it takes 2000 watts to hold that speed with the 5018/3's.And a peak of 3300 to get there. She was trimmed beautifully and ran back across her own wake like a champ.

Did you try the 4818/3? they might be faster :) and pull less amps

It looks like two 16S300A shrinkwrapped together back-to-back. I was wondering if there is an advantage vs. two separate. These things take up some realestate. It seems like mounting would be a pain with the way the caps are bunched. What hull do you plan to run it in?

Is that 300 amps total or 150 amps per side? I kind of would be worried that if one side goes out it takes out the other at the same time.
