    Carbon Genesis Cat Project

I am fairly green to FE boats, this is #2 for me. I have a lot invested into this already, and want it to be perfect. I have a Swordfish 240 HV, Leopard 4082 1250 KV, planning to run on 8S. I will post pics as it goes along. Firstly I am having some graghics made for the boat. So I want to install my cowl locks first. My question is what is the best way to drill holes in the carbon. I am a little worried about cracking the Hull.

Drill bit. Hold a piece of wood on the back side and drill with light pressure.

I am just starting my build on one of these too, using a single 4082 but a 1600kv to run 6s, are you not reinforcing or sealing the hull first?

Sorry for the inexperienced question, but what do you mean by reinforcing & sealing?

So I have first started with designing and dryfiting a stand for the boat. I will post a picture when I find out where my wife put the camera card. Stand is going to be great for working on and transporting the boat.

              Dave,

                  Dave,
Spot on with what LarrysDrifter stated. Very light pressure and take your time. Put something underneath it for support. Dont be in a hurry, just use a sharp drill bit. Cheapy's will dull out quickly so use a good quality bit.

Follow this thread, it'll give you some guidance. These hulls are VERY strong but running at high speeds is the death of all hulls that are OEM. On 8s you'll be approaching that that QUICKLY!

Yes it' s very strong but when carbon brakes is like breaking glass. Fiberglass works more like a chock absorber

Well between working rediculas hours and family obligations it seems no time for hobbies. I am also trying to get an other mono hull set up for my son. Which I should try to finish since it is parked in the perfect work space for the cat. I did manage to get a tub test done. I weighted down the hull placing electronics in approx locations. I also applied additional pressure to the hull to overweight the hull. after approx. 30 minutes the hull was still bone dry.tub test.jpg The batteries in the photo are only for weight purposes. I am using TP 45-90C 4S 5000's I have received too many dead batteries from HK. Next I want to install hatch locks. This worries me a little since I have only one chance for this. I need to take very careful measurements, and be very careful not to crack the CF. I am thinking of drilling small hole thru both hatch and hull at the same time, and then using dremel grinder cone to ream out. I have tried this on FG with success in the past. Any better ideas?hatch locks.jpg

I agree use a tiny drill bit all the way through the hatch and hull and then use a dremmel. Checked mine this weekend and no leaks either
