footage of the x548 and m447

Here's a short video of the x548 and the m447. The x548 was fast but very bouncy, the m447 is more stable but slower.

I made a few improvements and adjustments last night. I made up and external antenna tube using a water outlet that I put into the hatch the opposite way, a length of silicon tube and a standard antenna tube, I used rubber o-rings to waterproof the water outlet onto the hatch and the silicone is very tight on the plastic tube, I had to spit into the silicone tube for lube to get the antenna tube to run through it, now it's dry and wont budge. It'll be real easy to just slide the antenna into the tube as I fit the hatch b4 a run, as long as I remember. I also re-adjusted the strut bringing it down so the center of the shaft is 5-6mm above the sponsons and made sure it's at zero angle. I had to replace the rudder as it was easier than trying to bend it back streight, it was bent and slightly twisted, wow.

ha ha, I see it now, the picture makes it look like the cup of the prop is towards the front. I had to look at this picture over and over to figure it out.

Here's a video of the boat set up on 4s2p, the kids set up. I think it runs pretty well and it's going to be good for teaching the kids.

here's the next run with the cog the same as the above video, this ones running a X447, I think I'm liking this prop better, but I still need to find the strut angle and cog sweet spot's

this is the third and final of the day. I moved the COG back a little to see if it'd lift the front but it made things a tad worse. Next run I think I'll add a degree or two to the strut and put the cog back around 30%. I ended up the day with a duck dive at high speed that took the boat some time to come back up, once I paddled out to it I found mud on the tip of both sponsons, I guess she was nearly lost "stuck in the mud" lol. here it is

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causeing my radio glitch?? I have moved the rx (mr3000) over to the inside edge of the sponson, I've made sure there are no wires near the antenna's, I've made an external antenna that comes up through the hatch so the longest antenna sits in there about 3-4" above the boat and yet I still seem to be having the same issues. You can see what I mean in the 2nd video I posted last night. Could it be something with the esc maybe?? remember back in my post's how I said I have to recalitrate the esc each time I plug in batteries due to me modding the esc, would that have any effect causeing it to seem like a radio glitch in the same area of the lake??

I spent last night swapping out the 1717 with a 1515 2200kv motor and I fitted up a swordfish 200amp esc. I added 2 extra caps to the sf200 and then had a very hard time trying to calibrate the system, after too long trying I gave up and called it a night. This morning I grabbed a different rx mr200, rebound it and the system calibrated 1st try so the mr3000 that was running in the boat must be no good, that may answer my glitching issues too. Now it's a waiting game until I get all my work out of the way b4 I can run it with this setup, I'm hoping saturday.

                          Hiya Bloke.
                          2 things.
                          1. From Spektrum Owner/Tech AndyK, who stated : Spektrum do have initialization 'failure' with some esc. This is an inbuilt safety feature that makes the Rx start at 0% throttle until it has located and bound to the Tx.. 2-5 seconds... nothing worse than your car/boat taking off on powerup before it responds to Tx. The 'trick; is to powerup twice.. first time the Rx finds a channel and binds to Tx.. second time it checks that same channel and activates immediately 0-1sec.
                          2. Id ask around for a non CF cowl... or use existing as plug to make a Fg copy. All the Cf surrounding the noisy electronics inside your hull is quite possibly causing havoc to the Rx encased within. or grab a sheet of lexan/ptfe/pte and make a flat tape down jobby .... test to check stability of Rx... all the vids here suggest range issues..

Does your pond allow petrol?.. gas mate here reckons we need a road trip ... you can show us how to retrieve boats all day long in that canoe..

I don't think the guy's from the council would mind to much, one of the head guy's keeps asking me for a turn when he's here. I'm getting pretty good at the paddling, lots of practice Come on up, I'll just have to make sure I've got a cabin or two available.
I tried many different ways to calibrate the mr3000, with sf200 bec and without, it just seems to want to keep going into the programing mode, a few times it seemed to calibrate but the end points where way out, I had to hold the trigger at alomost 1/2 brake for 0 throttle, so then I thought maybe reversing that channel but all that did was the opposite. I called the hobbyman, fortunately I purchased this one from there not so long ago, he saqid if I send it down, he'll send me another so I'll give that one a go when it arrives. The Mr200 out of my titan worked first try so I might just leave that in there.

I think the radio glitch is due to the carbonfiber you have added to the cowl. I have the same rx as you with the same esc set up as you and haven't had a problem. I don't think Specktrum has a rx for boats that can be placed in carbon hulls (to my knowledge). Then again it could be a defective rx...
                              24 R/C vehicles and still counting...What budget?
