    Hi Guy's ,

This morning I sent my JPS Project Boat to Roy Cooper of " The Fast On Water " website in Lowestoft - Oulton Broad in the North East of England to take part in an exhibition of Bob Spaldings & Tom Percivels racing career . While in England the boat I built will be raced by a competant racer of R/C tunnel boats & real tunnel boats by the name of Mark Sadler , mark has a model "IC" powered No. 10 , which as Brits should know is Tom Percivels tunnel boat .

Should make for great video & pictures of them both on the waters of Oulton Broad , where the real Raceboats were originally raced in 1978-1984 . Don't know of how many trips for boats like this have been run , though I believe it is a good thing to remember the greats of one of the worlds most exciting sports - F1 Powerboat Racing .

So if you live in this part of England , & want to be part recapturing an awesome time in England's sporting history , then get in contact with Roy Cooper at www.fastonwater.co.uk , for all he has planned ...

Wish I lived closer so I could go and see it. Hope they have good weather on the day, it is pretty unpredictable in England.

        Hi Drax ,

Yeah I know that the weather can be a bit on the dull side in England , though i know , it is one of world most beautiful landscapes . At least your not sitting in 35c degree heat as we are this week in Oz ( Summertime ) . Pitty you don't you live up there mate , Roy Cooper is quite a driving force in Oulton Broad , when it comes to passion for Brittish Raceboat History , & should put on a good exhibition & other events . Just check out his website around May for pictures of what took place & I will be adding them to this build thread . Sent the boat there for twelve months while I study & catch up with home renovations , my wife is happy about that ( lol ) .....

Here's my wooden built-up Hot Shot .45. I built this in the early 1980's! I ran it for two summers and then sold the 7.5 engine to get another R/C airplane. I loved the boat, but where I was living near Knoxville, TN I was alone running boats on Norris Lake.

I've kept it all these years because it was a labor of love. Now, I'm a member of the Indianapolis Admiras R/C Model Boat Club. We are all electric (or wind) so I'm thinking about trying to convert it. It was painted with K&B Superpoxy as I recall. Yes, the forks did find a pontoon boat to puncture once upon a time.

                Hi Guy's ,

My JPS Raceboat has arrived in Oulton Broad , only to find that because the paperwork was not marked temporary import . I may be charged 92 pounds so Roy Cooper ( Fastonwater.co.uk ) can receive it , which may take a couple of weeks to sort out . On a positive note , Roy has been in contact with Bristols Powerboat Museum " The M Shed " and is arranging for the boat to take part in an exhibition that is to be held over the next five months regarding boat racing there , Roy will also be running the boat on the same waters off Bristols Docks where so much heritage is in regard to Brittish Powerboat Racing ( see YouTube ) . It seems like most bearocracy around the world , like to make a dollar or two out of misfortune , so hopefully this matter gets sorted out without financial penalty ...

Sorry to hear that Brad. £92 is a lot of money on import fees!! Customs is plain stupid in the UK. Greedy too!

                    Hi Tim ,

I'm sure it goes on everywhere mate , i could tell you of stories of my experiences with Australian Customs service , that would make you cry ( lol) .

On a nicer note , did you see two of your countrymen on the weekend Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton scream around the Australian Grand Prix circuit of Albert Park , taking 1st and 3rd place respectively - those MClarens are simply in a class of their own at the moment ....

I think I pay something to customs at least 5 times a year. I just don't think a hobby item should be taxed.... oh well

Yes they done extremely well in the Grand Prix. I'm not a big fan of the racing as it tends to bore me but I'm happy to see their results. I like watching the last lap

It's been a while though Project JPS returned home yesterday with a few pieces broken off like Drivers Cowl , superficial damage though disappointing . Currently I am just fixing damage and then it will be sent back to Roy Cooper , who has been gracious in paying for its final attempt of being let into the UK . Must remember to clearly mark outside of box with " FOR TEMPORARY IMPORT " as according to Roy Brittish Customs wanted to Charge 92 pound ( 150ish AUD ) as they believed it may have been permanent import.

Given a week or two for it be repaired and reboxed , it should be with Roy early June , to take part in a range of events he has planned , and in the promotion of his website and organization www.fastonwater.co.uk . . Personally I am itching to see pictures of it on the Oulton Broad Raceboat circuit . And for the boat to be signed by Jane Spinks , daughter of The late Bob Spalding ...

                          Hi Guy's ,

Project JPS has arrived with Roy Cooper ( Fastonwater.co.uk ) , where he has done a bit of cosmetic work to rid it of the damage it received during its epic twice round the world voyage ( thanks to Brittish Customs Service ) . Roy plans on keeping it for twelve months , as it will be involved in a number of exhibitions and displays , first being the " Urban Sport " exhibition the Mshed in Bristol are running all of the Northern Hemisphere Summer . Beccy Peters who is the curator of Mshed is currently making up a case for it to be displayed in .

The " Urban Sport " exhibition is coinciding with the Olympic Torch relay , that will visit Bristol on its way to London for the 2012 Olympic Games . So if you live in the Bristol region and want to check out the exhibit , including the Raceboat section , you may come across this build .....

                            Hi Guy's ,

Recently i received an email from Roy Cooper of fastonwater.co.uk informing me that the Mshed's " Urban Sport " Exhibition had come to a close . By all reports it was a successful exhibition that had numerous displays on how the natural environment in Bristol allows for sport to be enjoyed by the community there , including a section on F1 throughout the duration of holding races on the Dock Circuit . Project JPS was well received by those old enough to remember the awesome battles on the waters off the docks , between such drivers as Bill Seabold and Bob Spalding , and also captured the imagination of the young .

Roy has further events installed for this build , including a tribute night for Tom Percival and Bob Spalding . Early 2013 , he is arranging with a local R/C Boating clubs to run Project JPS on the waters of Bristol Docks and Oulton Broad , where real JPS Raceboat became a part of Brittish sporting folklore ...

So if you live in Bristol or Lowestoft regions and would like to see this build in action , get in contact with Roy , via his website ...

                              Hi Guy's ,

continuing my interest in older literature , i have recently acquired a brochure of a Dumas Catalogue that's in rather good condition for its age , printed in 1984 from an Ebayer in Mid - U.S.A . ( see attached picture ) It covers the whole Dumas product range from that time , including their line up of sailboats . After receiving my JPS Raceboat replica back from Roy Cooper in England, i may build a coffee table to house both catalogue and R/C Boat ....
