Went out today for the first time,,,ohhh the anticipation.
Boat in the water , powere up gently and went 20 feet, then stopped. I could here the motor spinning. When it got back to shore in about 30 seconds (it was windy) found the set screws on the coupler slipping. Tightened them up and repeated the launch, got plane instantly and went 100 feet till the same happened. Back to the dremel tonight !
Got the HV Hydra mounted. It would be nice if Castle would figure out a way to mount the capacitors a bit more rigidly. They seem a bit flimsy. Same on my Hydra 120 that I got last year. Now just waiting on one 6mm connector and LiPo's
Sorry I have not updated the thread on the run on the weekend.
It ran great for a lap, the 2280/12 planes it instantly, it was scary fast as well. On the second lap though, I had no rudder control so I shut it down and let it drift to shore. A few minutes later I found the problem,,,,the rudder broke off at the piont where the shaft meets the blade
I must have hit something,,there are turtles around every now and then so maybe that was the cause. The rest of the boat appears to be fine. Anyway, I have a new rudder being shipped and hopefully it will be here for the weekend.
I have to say that a 1/8th scale boat is an impressive looking machine on the water, You really have to see one to appreciate it.
No video as I asked the girlfriend only to take some after a few shakedown laps.(just in case of disaster). I suppose she could have taken some vid of it floating back to shore.
