I think i might have just found a prop. I might try a ABC 48.3mm diameter and 86.8 pitch.
Thats a lot of pitch. Im not saying it wont work but I have tried those on monos and I get less speed than the prather 1.55 pitch props. Have you tried a x648 octura yet? Its a bit more pitch than the prather, but not as much as the 1.8 ABC prop.
I havent tried one on a cat though...it could work. I think they are intended for hydros, so I guess a cat would be a lot closer fit than my mono.
Great job by the way.
At this point I dont know how you could NOT want to go for 100...

The pitch i think will be to much but this is the only thing i could find at 1.9 and bigger then 76.19, a x648 will not make much of a difference. If anyone knows a slightly bigger prop then a panther 230, just tell me.
You should check into someone cupping your s225 or s230, or try it yourself. That would give you the extra speed you want without the problems from the larger props.

Cupping will not increase speed it just stops the hop. To increase the speed you need a higher pitch or bigger prop.
To get more pitch you will need to go to the V9 series. Since it is a three blade you may need to start smaller and work up. I forget what type of hull you are running, V9 do not work great on Cats. For a two blade prop Possibly a 1750 or a 1950 they may need to be delifted or curled/ cupped on the ends to reduce lift.

I already ordered the prop so i will give it a try but i think your right. Wednesday i should have the new prop and we will see.
Funny, I set two very long-standing NAMBA SAW records using v940s on my P and Q cat......
Howard's cat would be legal in a NAMBA SAW event, running in T Hydro or T Offshore classes. But getting 90 mph on a GPS and running two back-to-back passes for 330 feet each are two far different things. I'd like to see Howard try it - and succeed!
BTW, for those who discount GPS accuracy, consider this. I usually run a Garmin 101 in my SAW boats through the traps. The GPS speeds are almost always within 1-2 mph or less of the official timed speeds - this at 80-90 mph. What GPS inaccuracy? I believe what I see, not what someone else reads online.

hmmmm....when Bill Seebold, Sr....thee prop master of all times, put more cup in the tops of my raker prop I saw more speed and lift. Wish I had not sold that prop with the boat...it was the last prop he did and he engraved his name in it. Got to go to his house about an hour from me and see his shop...had all the old racing mercs from 30-40 years ago.
If you are serious about getting a bit more speed, don't use stock props. Simply removing the tongue on an Octura X prop or a Prather SS prop can gain several mph. Better yet is to get an experienced prop modifier - dasboata here on OSE is one of the best - and have him thin and add pitch and some cup to your current 'best' prop. Tell him what you need and he can help you get there without a lot of trial and error - and without buying a lot of props you don't need.
