This thread is about a 32hotr and with this boat I'm very experienced. I have push this passed any speed anyone ever has. Someone comes in here and tells me i have little experience to them and you don't think thats disrespecting me? My goal is to go as fast as i can, not know the history of rc boating. What really looks bad is that a guy comes in here with only doing this for less then 6 months and is running record speeds. Your friends need you but i don't, it would be taking a step back for me. You and all your hater friends can kiss my a$$.

Jay's a big boy. He knows all about youngsters and noobs.

Even though sometimes he comes off a bit harsh I do believe it is his experience and education in his field that may sound like he presents things blunt and to the point. Few here, if any, have his experience and time on the water and set up experience...do not even second guess that one.

I think Howard is doing a great job and seems he does not need answers...just kudos for pushing a small cat over the limit....it will come and the boat will probably be in pieces and on the bottom but I am sure he is ready for that...anyone pushing more than 70 is ready for that.

One thing I think we all see is the fact that so many questions are asked over and over and over when there is a great database on this site.

Hey, I made his " ignore list" as well but I feel confident that if you really need something Jay would help. That is the kind of guy he really is. I do think respect works both ways but sometime it is shorter to write something that is dead on and to the point....saves time and brain cells.

I saw Jay leave one site and I would really hate to see him leave this one. He is a valuable resource.

...keep it real, men, but let's not forget words on paper are much different than our voices...tone is everything for humans...and animals!

Being the Noob, I'm getting heaps from this thread, I think it's great that all the advice is given and how you guy's are willing to help out, hell it takes all kinds of people to maintain any sport/hobby and I feel that if it wasn't for the experenced guy's offering this advice, I for one would have still been reading from the sideline and thinking I'd like to get into it but never actually putting my hand in my pocket. If the knowledge is witheld to take with you when your gone and there are no noob's, eventully it wouldn't be much of a hobby. Share the experience so the noob's can share the coin$$. Keep up the good work, both of you.

Now that takes real experience, I'm not pushing my motor or esc to the limit yet. I just want to help the guys that are looking for a good top speed without all this drama.
You say stuff like that, but then you post other things like this:

Mr experience! Building a cat out of wood and racing is something i would never do but then again my first run i did 81 on low batteries. You talk about the records you set but never at what speed. And my boat didn't just sink i just didn't choose to go in for it. A hatch lock is not just to keep your boat from sinking but it keeps the water out. A small drilled hole in your hatch might let a little water in but its nothing compared to half of your tape ripping off. I use a small piece of foam to seal my hatch and no tape. Come on fluid no more hating.
and I fail to see how you aren't part of the drama? Did you also happen to notice how old that video footage is, it's hardly cutting edge and modern anymore. Up until a few years ago ALL FE boats were wood/foam because power systems weren't nearly as powerful and they needed to be light.

You had someone that holds/held many FE records agreeing with you on setup and then you chose to snap on them because he made a comment about not running flotation? Really?

My 2 cents on it, if you have adequate flotation installed correctly your boat will still be floating even if the hatch isn't anywhere near the boat and the hull is full of water. If it won't float full of water IMO you don't have enough flotation in there, period.
Light travels faster than sound, so people may appear to be bright until you hear them speak.

Back on topic, please. I'm curious to see if this hull can break 100 reliably. So far, this guy has been the only one to take it seriously enough to push it there. I don't think anyone else has hit 80. (if so, cool, I just haven't seen it)

How cool would it be to have a sub $500 boat hit 100?

I dont understand your post Doby...unless there is some kind of sarcasm or irony that Im not picking up on?

I was one of the people who admitted to running a boat without floatation and nearly losing it...Is this comment geared towards me? If so "they dont really know much at all" would imply that others know something about this matter that I dont...I understand the purpose of flotation, and I know running without it is a risk, but I still did it in that occasion. It wasnt the first time and unfortunately probably wont be the last. Sometimes I want to run new builds and dont have the patience to wait for pool noodle to come back in stock. Is there something else I need to know about this matter?

Im definitely not throwing my hat into the ring and looking to get in on the bashing session here, nor am I picking sides or pointing fingers. This thread is begining to have a click-y feel to it and Im not really interested in participating, but I would like to know whether or not I am mis-understanding your post.

I am interested in the boat discussed in this thread, as I have one. Im also interested in the hatch lock/hold down discussion and encourage anyone with new ideas to bring them to the table. (Im sure the OP wont mind but if so just say so).
Has anyone ever used Dzus fasteners?

Dzus fasteners is a great idea,Keith. I wish they made them in a smaller diameter. Im completey for the Dzus idea though.Flush mount, easy to tape over, and race car parts on an rc boat!

They do make smaller (than standard) Dzus'. Not the spring loaded kind like you put on body panels, but just the fastener itself. Im considering doing them on my nexy build. The wires never hold well on just fiberglass, but you could put the wire on a plate and epoxy it underneath the glass...

They are not picking on you but on me. This is what happens when guys are jealous. Dealing with has bens is not easy. I'm not posting anymore info on building tips but i will put the vid of a 100+. Whats funny about this whole thing is I'm not taken anything away from them. I don't jump from thread to thread giving my experience out or challenging them, but i could. Why should i go out 1st thing in the morning and do test runs and post it on here with all this disrespect. I was going to post some good tips tonight but then i was thinking why should i. I'm going to change forms, this is not what i want to talk about.

I dont think theres any challenging going on in this thread. In my opinion, the problem is with typing, people cannot distinguish attitude, sarcasm and so on. I know there are emoticons available to use,but some of us dont use them. Somethings also got misunderstood between a couple people here. Lets not let things get out of hand or crazy. Its not needed. If someone is confused or doesnt understand, make sure to clarify things with them with every effort made to not sound attitudal or with a big head.Im not trying to offend anyone by saying any of this. Its only my opinion. We should all get along here, although some of us dont. Its kind of like a big family full of FE boat addicts. We should be here for eachother and do what we can to help.
