Hey forescott, hope you don't mind if I add to your thread a little. Just wanted to show what I got going on so far. Seems like we are both on the same page with the BJ and Outrunners. I need to get a eagle-tree asap, but once I get one I'll have some data. Here's the 3 motors I have for the BJ.
- Venom (KOS P1) 2000kv outrunner with bracket. I was really shocked the bracket was a direct mount to the BJ.
- CC 1800kv outrunner (same as forescott)
- Turnigy 500 1800kv outrunner (same as forescott)
With an outrunner, the outer part of the can spins instead of the inside. Outrunners typically have more torque and use less amps than inrunners. Obviously if the outer part of the can is spinning, then they cannot use a water jacket. Most outrunners have some type of fan/blade setup built in to the end of the motor can to circulate air when the motor spins. Thus they are air cooled, but can be used with a water cooled motor mount to aid in the cooling as well.
42x55. I'll add the video just in case you haven't seen it. I don't have a GPS but it looks way faster than stock. Still have not adjusted the strut from how it came out the box so the bounce is still there even with the batteries hanging 1/2 out the back of the tray.
I'm guessing this setup should put the B26J in to the 50's considering it's lighter, no?
Went back to the typhoon 1800kv outrunner in the blackjack. The castle outrunner was a little too much for the 26-inch hull and was causing some big torque-roll issues. The smaller typhoon outrunner seems to be a perfect match with the turnigy 60A esc and 642 prop. Speed is around 40mph on 4s and the motor comes in at around 110 degrees after about 7-minutes run time.

WOW great info man. 7m run time that's impressive. I am still waiting for the weather to break here so I can run my setup with the 2000kv venom/suppo outrunner. I bought a eagle tree so I can get some good data. Gonna try it with the stock esc. Hopefully it handles the motor ok.
